  • Patent number: 9428307
Abstract: A flexible package and method for manufacturing thereof is provided. The flexible package includes a first layer of adhesive material disposed on an interior surface of the rear panel of the package. The adhesive material of the first layer includes at least one visual indicator formed by at least one area of predetermined shape that is more translucent than adjacent areas of the adhesive material of the first layer. A second layer of adhesive material is disposed on an interior surface of the front panel. The second layer of adhesive material is located opposite the first layer of adhesive material. When the flexible package is not completely sealed, the visual indicator in the adhesive material of the first layer is not visible through the adhesive material of the second layer. When the flexible package is sealed, the visual indicator is visible through the second layer of adhesive material.

  • Publication number: 20160023828
Abstract: A package includes a sheet of flexible material that has a first configuration of a generally flat configuration and a second configuration of a folded and sealed configuration. In the flat configuration, both prior to and after sealing, a user can utilize the sheet as a working surface. The flexible material includes a foldable portion and sealing areas disposed on first and second package portions on opposite sides of the foldable portion. When a sealed package is desired, a user can fold the sheet generally about the foldable portion so that the sealing areas generally align with one another. The user can then compress the aligned and abutting sealing areas to ensure sealing. To access the sealed contents, a user can simply pull the folded flexible material portions generally apart from one another to separate the engaged sealing areas.

  • Publication number: 20060068063
Abstract: A multiple compartment package includes a tray having an open top tray compartment and a removable tray cover, and an upper lid compartment opposing and engaging the tray with a peelable film sealing the bottom opening thereof. In one arrangement, the peelable film is removable from outside the package while the lid is opposing and engaging the top of the tray, to thereby dispense a secondary food product contained therein onto a primary food product in the tray compartment after the removable tray cover has been removed from the tray. Optionally, a hinge connects the lid to the tray. Further, a method is provided for preparing a food product which includes causing a secondary food product to flow into a lower tray compartment by peeling a peelable film off the bottom of a lid compartment so as to allow the secondary food product to be dispersed into the tray compartment with the primary food product.

  • Patent number: 5064664
Abstract: A package is provided which incorporates a peel seal area or areas that provide readily detectable evidence that the package has been opened or tampered with. Message indicia are provided at or near the peel seal, and the appearance of the message indicia changes when the peel seal area, which has a contact clarity condition when sealed, is broken resulting in the onset of an opacity condition in a background area but not in an indicia area in order to inform a consumer or potential purchaser that the peel seal has been broken. The peel seal area is provided by impressing onto the package a heat seal bar having message indicia engraved thereinto.
