  • Publication number: 20080004611
Abstract: The present invention relates to a skin treatment device (1, 1?). The device comprises in a housing a source of radiation (13), that is emittable through an exit opening in the housing. It further comprises a plurality of skin presence sensors (43, 63) that are able to measure the presence of skin (7) at their respective positions, and a control unit (37). The control unit (37) is constructed to determine a covered part of the exit opening (15) from measurement signals of the skin presence sensors, and to restrict emission of the radiation (13) to the covered part of the exit opening (15), e.g. by modifying the control of a radiation beam manipulator (11), or by controlling radiation blocking means, such as blinds, in the exit opening (15). The invention provides a more efficient and yet safe treatment device (1, 1?), since a larger exit opening (15) may be selected, while unwanted emission of radiation (13) through uncovered parts of the exit opening (15) is yet prevented.

  • Publication number: 20070213791
Abstract: The invention relates to a device (1) for the treatment of skin (13) by means of a radiation beam (5). The device comprises a radiation source (9) for generating the radiation beam, a beam exit window (15), an optical detecting system (31) for determining a target position (22) of the radiation beam relative to the skin, and a beam manipulator (17) for positioning the radiation beam in the target position. The radiation beam and the detecting system have a first optical axis (45) and a second optical axis (47), respectively. According to the invention, seen from the radiation source (9) towards the beam exit window (15), the first and the second optical axis (45, 47) coincide starting at a position (S) between the radiation source and the beam manipulator (17).

  • Publication number: 20060293728
Abstract: The present invention discloses a device and a method for controlling growth of hair on human skin with low doses of electromagnetic radiation, and a device for carrying out the method. In the method, radiation of a suitable spectrum is applied to the skin, in one or more pulses of between 1 and 100 ms, and with maximum fluencies on the skin between 1 and 12 J/cm2. By applying such low fluencies and at controlled pulse durations, follicles of the hairs are induced to the catagen phase. This means that the growth of the hairs of those follicles will stop. Although the method is not primarily aimed at immediate hair removal, hairs may be shed subsequently. In any case, further growth may be stopped for prolonged periods of time. The main advantage of the method is that the risk of damage to the skin is minimized.

  • Publication number: 20060123555
Abstract: The invention relates to a compound to improve wrinkle resistance in fabrics, comprising: a wrinkle reducing agent, comprising at least one fusible elastomer, and a liquid carrier for carrying said agent and a salt composition for physical crosslinking said fusible elastomer. The invention also relates to a fabric provided with said wrinkle resistance improving compound. The invention further relates to a method of improving wrinkle resistance in a fabric by use of such a compound.

  • Publication number: 20060015091
Abstract: The invention relates to a device (1) for treating human skin by means of radiation. The device comprises a housing (3) with a radiation exit opening (13). A radiation source (9) is accommodated in the housing. Radiation generated by the radiation source propagates from the radiation source towards the radiation exit opening via a radiation path (15) comprising a radiation filter having a predetermined transmission spectrum. According to the invention the radiation filter comprises a reflecting surface (23) via which the radiation propagating along the radiation path (15) is reflected. The reflecting surface has a coating which provides the reflecting surface with a reflection spectrum substantially matching the predetermined transmission spectrum. An advantage is that the reflection surface can be optimally and uniformly cooled, so that the heat generated as a result of the absorption of part of the radiation by the radiation filter can be effectively transmitted to a cooling system (25) of the device (1).

  • Patent number: 5980452
Abstract: An appliance for removing hairs growing from skin is provided with a clamping device and a cutting device cooperating therewith. The clamping device clamps the hairs to be removed and subsequently extracts them at least partly from the skin, whereupon the hairs extracted partly from the skin are cut through adjacent the skin by the cutting device. The hairs thus cut through return to below the surface of the skin, so that a smooth shaving result is achieved which remains intact during a considerable period. According to the invention, the appliance is provided with structure for adjusting an extraction distance over which the clamping device extracts the hairs from the skin before they are cut through by the cutting device. In a special embodiment, the structure is adjustable to a first mode in which the appliance purely has a shaving function and to a second mode in which the appliance purely has a depilation function.
