  • Patent number: 11479657
Abstract: A system and method of forming a plastic blend that includes nanoparticles of filler material evenly dispersed, without agglomeration of particles, throughout a hydrophobic polymer. A slurry is created that contains water and nanoparticles of a filler material. The filler materials are selected from a group consisting of crystalline cellulose, cellulose fiber, chitosan and chitin. A dispersion aid is provided that has a melting point in a temperature range. The slurry is heated and mixed to a temperature that is above the melt point range of the dispersion aid. The dispersion aid is added. The slurry is cooled to a temperature that is below the melting point of the dispersion aid. This causes the dispersion aid to solidify and entrap the nanoparticles within solid compound. The solid compound is dried and then reduced into a powder. The powder is the fill composition that is melt compounded for use.

  • Publication number: 20200317888
Abstract: The present invention comprises a process for the preparation of a dry, free flowing nanoparticulate concentrate that is free of particle agglomeration and allows for the maximum dispersion of nano-cellulose crystals, nano-cellulose fibers, chitin nano whiskers and nano chitosan in hydrophobic polymers. These are then useful in the manufacture of nano composite materials and nano fillers which are then useful in the preparation many plastic application areas, such as the manufacture of film, fiber, sheet, blow molded articles and foamed polymers.

  • Publication number: 20120308512
Abstract: The present invention comprises a bio-polymer based solid for the sustained release of an active agent into the air consisting of: a) a primary starched—based polymer; b) a secondary polyether block amide polymer, and: c) a filler component. d) one or more active oils The active oils can be one or more fragrances so as to provide an air freshening composition, a flavor to create a certain aromatic environment or a repellant such as insect repellants for the elimination of mosquitoes and the like. Animal repellants may be incorporated to ward off unwanted pets and wildlife outside the home and attractants may also be utilized in the production of fishing lures and the like.

  • Patent number: 6979455
Abstract: An antimicrobial concentrate is manufactured from a carrier, one or more antimicrobial agents and optionally one or more modifiers, the carrier having a modified ethylene polymer and optionally an olefin polymer and a method of producing the concentrate by producing the carrier, having the modified ethylene polymer and optionally the olefin polymer, then compounding the carrier with one or more antimicrobial agents and optionally one or more modifiers, to form the concentrate, which does not exhibit chalking and clumping of antimicrobial agent on the surface thereof. An antimicrobial blend that is manufactured from the antimicrobial concentrate, a resin and optionally an additive and a method of producing the blend by combining the concentrate with the resin.
