Abstract: Delivery systems for whitening teeth are provided. The delivery systems include a flexible strip of material sized to cover a front surface of a plurality of teeth, wherein the strip of material is substantially flat and a layer of a tooth whitening substance is in contact with the strip of material. The tooth whitening substance includes a whitening active selected from the group consisting of peroxides, metal chlorites, perborates, percarbonates, peroxyacids, hypochlorites, and combinations thereof. The amount of the tooth whitening substance is between about 0.05 grams and about 0.4 grams.

Abstract: Method for whitening teeth are provided. The methods include the steps of providing a strip of material and applying a thin layer of a tooth whitening substance having a whitening active selected from the group consisting of peroxides, metal chlorites, perborates, percarbonates, peroxyacids, hypochlorites, and combinations thereof to a front surface of a plurality of teeth, wherein the amount of the tooth whitening substance is between about 0.05 grams and about 0.4 grams. The method further includes the steps of conforming the strip of material to the front surface of the plurality of teeth and removing the strip of material, wherein the front surface of the plurality of teeth have between a 1 and a 4 VITA LUMIN shade guide improvement in color.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a laminated structure comprising an adhesive coated strip which is mounted upon a release strip wherein the release strip includes a partible break and wherein the release strip farther includes a tab. Deflection of the release strip tab in a direction away from the adhesive coated strip generates a partial separation of the release strip tab from the general plane of the release strip at the partible break causing an edge of the adhesive coated strip to be exposed for grasping by the user. The present invention also relates to methods for removal of an adhesive coated strip from the release strip.

The strip of material is readily conformable to oral surfaces without permanent deformation when the delivery system is placed there against. The oral care substance is applied to the strip of material such that when the delivery system is placed on the oral surface the active contacts the surface. The oral care substance also provides adhesive attachment between the strip of material and the oral surface so as to hold the delivery system in place for a sufficient amount of time to allow the active to act upon the oral surface.

The strip of material is readily conformable to the teeth surfaces and to interstitial tooth spaces without permanent deformation when the delivery system is placed thereagainst. The tooth whitening substance is applied to the strip of material such that when the delivery system is placed on the surface of the teeth, the substance contacts the surface providing an active onto the surface. The substance also provides adhesive attachment between the strip of material and the surface to hold the delivery system in place for a sufficient amount of time to allow the active to act upon the surface.
