  • Publication number: 20250132568
Abstract: Power draw stabilization is provided. A target power consumption of a source load is determined. The source load is generated by electronics supplied power by a primary power source through a power rail. The power rail is coupled to a capacitor bank by a bi-directional converter configured to smooth fluctuations in power drawn from the primary power source by performing mode switch operations. The mode switch operations include, in response to the source load exceeding a target power consumption, controllably switching to a second directional mode that directs current released from the capacitor bank to the power rail. The mode switch operations further include, in response to the source load dropping below the target power consumption, controllably switching the operational mode of the bi-directional converter to a first directional mode to direct current from the power rail into the capacitor bank.

  • Publication number: 20230211195
Abstract: The description relates to battery safety and more specifically to containing battery fires. One example can include displacement sub-systems configured to physically separate an affected battery pack from other battery packs. Another example can include a 3D deployable fire curtain configured to automatically deploy around a battery pack to limit the spread of fire between battery packs. A further example can include a media reservoir positioned over a battery pack that is configured to hold non-combustible smothering media. A media retainer can be interposed between the battery pack and the media reservoir and configured to automatically release the non-combustible smothering media into the battery pack support structure when the battery pack experiences a fire.

  • Patent number: 11048311
Abstract: A power system for multi-input devices with shared reserve power includes a first automatic transfer switch (ATS) and a second ATS each coupled at respective inputs to a primary power system and a reserve power system. An output of one of the ATSs is coupled to first power input of a multi-input electrical device and an output of the other ATS is coupled to a second power input of the multi-input electrical device. When primary power is available, electrical power is fed to both the inputs of the multi-input electrical device and when primary power is not available reserve power is fed to both inputs of the multi-input electrical device. If a component fails between the primary and/or reserve power system and the multi-input electrical device, a full load of the multi-input electrical device is fed from a non-affected one of the inputs of the multi-input electrical device.

  • Patent number: 10978904
Abstract: A system for performing computing operations in a data center includes one or more sets of computer systems, one or more primary power systems, and a reserve power system. The primary power systems include a downstream portion that supplies power to at least one of the sets of computer systems. The reserve power system includes switches that switch between supplying a primary power feed and a reserve power feed from the reserve power system through part of the primary power system. An input resiliency switch can switch between supplying primary power or reserve power to support power supplied to the sets of computer systems through the primary power system based upon a primary power feed fault. A power distribution switch can switch between supplying primary power and reserve power to part of the downstream portion of the primary power system to bypass an upstream portion of the primary power system.

  • Patent number: 9939790
Abstract: A rack installation control system adjustably controls the rate at which rack computer systems are installed in computer rooms in one or more data centers, based on the electrical power consumption by the installed rack computer systems. The rack installation rate can be adjusted based on installed rack computer system power consumption exceeding a threshold, including a threshold proportion of a power supply capacity of a power distribution system. When the power consumption by installed rack computer systems in a particular computer room exceeds a threshold, rack computer system installation can be initiated in an additional room. Where a computer room includes a fixed number of positions, and when the fixed number of racks is installed in the computer room and at least some power distribution system power capacity is available, additional rack computer systems can be installed in an additional space to consume the available power distribution system capacity.

  • Patent number: 9888614
Abstract: A data center row infrastructure module enables rapid deployment of a computing room enclosure for computer systems that provides intake air circulation to, and exhaust air removal from, the computer systems in the enclosure. The data center row infrastructure module includes free-standing exhaust plenum structures encompassing opposite sides of the enclosure and a plenum module spanning a top end of the enclosure between the free-standing exhaust plenum structures. Each free-standing exhaust plenum structure includes an internal exhaust air plenum that directs exhaust air received from the enclosure through an exhaust air outlet on a top end of the free-standing exhaust plenum structure. The plenum module establishes a bottom end of a cooling air plenum above and separate from the enclosure and between the free-standing exhaust plenum structures. Some plenum modules can direct cooling air directly to the enclosure as intake air.

  • Patent number: 9777908
Abstract: Embodiments herein are directed to a lighting fixture for insertion into a strut channel member. In an installed position, a light source supported by the housing of the lighting fixture is disposed at least partially within an interior volume of the strut channel member. The lighting fixture can be attached to the strut channel member by the lips of the strut channel member. When the lighting fixture is installed in the channel member, light from the light source emanates in a direction out of the channel member through the slot in the channel member. The lighting fixture may be snapped or slid into or out of place in the channel member.

  • Patent number: 9342414
Abstract: A reserve power bus ring links multiple reserve power systems to computer systems in a data center. The reserve power bus ring enables multiple reserve power systems to concurrently provide reserve power support to sets of computer systems. The reserve power bus ring includes portions to which one or more reserve power systems and computer systems are coupled, and isolation devices collectively isolate particular portions of the reserve power bus ring in response to a fault condition in that particular portion, such that that computer systems on other portions of the ring continue to receive reserve power support from the reserve power systems coupled to the remaining portions. A reserve power bus ring may include respective power buses coupling two or more reserve power systems on an upstream side and a downstream side, and isolation devices can break a connection of the power bars to isolate the reserve power systems.
