  • Patent number: 8939214
Abstract: Various implementations include a system for introducing upwardly a flexible member into a tubular fixed structure with a sleeve surrounding the flexible member in the region where the flexible member attaches to the tubular fixed structure. The system allows for the flexible member to be drawn upwardly into a bore of the tubular fixed structure. In one implementation, a plurality of locking dogs are attached to and are radially moveable with respect to the sleeve between an inner locking position in which they engage with the flexible member, and an outer release position in which they are disengaged from the flexible member. In addition, a latch ring is disposed on a substantially cylindrical surface so that it may be deflected axially along said surface on contact between the sleeve and tubular fixed structure to permit release of the locking dogs.

  • Patent number: 8720542
Abstract: A tubular member handling apparatus is a gripping tool (100) in the form of a body (110) having a longitudinal axis (202) and formed by a plurality of sleeves (750) connected end to end, each sleeve including a frusto-conical bore 752 centered on said longitudinal axis; a clamp member (700) in each sleeve formed by clamp-segments (740), each having side faces (168), end faces (743), a frusto-conical exterior surface (741) adapted to match said frusto-conical bore, and a cylindrical interior surface (745); cage-segments (220) connected to said interior surface and having a plurality of windows (222) partially closing recesses (214) in said interior surface, which recesses are elongate in said longitudinal direction, house a roller (230) and have a base (236) inclined in said longitudinal direction so that, at a lower end (232) of each recess the roller protrudes through said window and at an upper end (234) thereof the roller protrudes less or not at all; a bias mechanism 780, urging said clamp-segments apart

  • Publication number: 20120168172
Abstract: A system for introducing upwardly a flexible member into a tubular fixed structure with a sleeve surrounding the flexible member in the region where the flexible member attaches to the tubular fixed structure. The system comprises means for enabling the flexible member to be drawn upwardly into a bore of the tubular fixed structure, said bore being defined by an inner surface of said tubular structure, clamping means on the sleeve temporarily clamping the sleeve and flexible member together, and release means on the sleeve adapted to automatically release the clamping means when the sleeve attains a fixed disposition with respect to the tubular fixed structure, such as to permit continued movement of the flexible member with respect to the sleeve.

  • Patent number: 6506860
Abstract: A new and novel linear, regio-regular vicinal functionalized polymer methods of forming the same are described. The polymer has a linear hydrocarbon polymer backbone with vicinal functional groups having oxygen and/or nitrogen atom containing groups, such as hydroxy, carboxylic acid or ester, carbonyl acetate, amide, nitrile and the like, pendent from the polymer backbone chain in a regio-regular manner.
