  • Patent number: 10325103
Abstract: A computer-implemented method may include (1) generating or receiving, at a computing device, display data defining a display layout and one or more fields; (2) providing, on a display screen of the computing device and by processing the display data, a display that initially obscures an item of information in a secure field without obscuring an entirety of the display; (3) detecting, using at least a camera of the computing device, a change in orientation of a user relative to the computing device; and (4) in response to the change in orientation, causing the display to show the item of information in the secure field, and after causing the display to show the item, (i) detecting an expiration of a predetermined time limit, and (ii) in response to detecting the expiration, causing the display to again obscure the item in the secure field without obscuring the entirety of the display.

  • Publication number: 20180321973
Abstract: A method for scheduling tasks to a cyclic schedule, comprising maintaining a request queue, a count, the count being initialized to a given limit, and an index of a current time slot within the schedule. Periodically, if the request queue contains a reference to an urgent task among the tasks, that reference is removed from the request queue and the urgent task is dispatched and if the request queue is empty, the index is advanced to the next time slot within the schedule. If the next time slot is statically assigned to a task among the tasks, that task is dispatched, and if the next time slot is unassigned and the count is below the limit, the count is incremented and the index is further advanced to the next but one time slot.

  • Patent number: 9977909
Abstract: A computer-implemented method may include (1) generating or receiving, at a computing device, display data defining a display layout and one or more fields, (2) providing, upon a display screen of the computing device and by processing the display data, a display that initially either obscures or shows first information in a first field of the one or more fields without obscuring an entirety of the display, (3) detecting, by one or more sensors of the computing device, a physical movement of the computing device or a change in orientation of a user of the computing device relative to the computing device, and, (4) in response to the sensor(s) detecting the physical movement or the change in orientation, causing the display to either show or obscure the first information in the first field without obscuring the entirety of the display. As a result, enhanced security for sensitive information is provided.

  • Publication number: 20140326148
Abstract: A dewatering method comprising the method steps of: (i) Conveying a material to be dewatered part way along the length of a housing (14) by way of a screw (12) that is driven by a motor (22); (ii) Monitoring the rate of change of power demand on the motor (22); (iii) Adjusting the level of backpressure to which the material to be dewatered is exposed based on the rate of change of power demand on the motor (22) as obtained under step (ii); and (iv) Forming a residual plug of dewatered material at an open end (20) of the housing (14). A dewatering apparatus (10) is also described.

  • Publication number: 20140291259
Abstract: A separation method (10) comprising the following method steps: (i) Passing an organic waste material to a primary washing step (16) in which a clean organic stream (18) and a fraction with a specific gravity of greater than 1 (20) are produced; (ii) Passing the clean organic stream (18) from step (i) to a drainage step (22) to remove free water therefrom; and (iii) Passing the organic material product (24) of step (ii) to a dewatering step (26) in which the water content of the organic material is reduced to a level suitable for passing to a bioconversion process. An apparatus is also described.

  • Patent number: 8335848
Abstract: Network data associated with a network session is captured at a first location. The network data includes, but is not limited to, web page data transmitted over a network between a web server and a user terminal. User interface events associated with the same network session are separately captured at a second user terminal location. The user interface events include, but are not limited to, user inputs for interacting with the web page data. Both the captured network data and the separately captured user interface events are then used for analyzing the network session.

  • Patent number: 7859708
Abstract: A method and a multi-function machine are provided for generating and arranging thumbnails corresponding to scanned documents. The thumbnails are printed on a sheet in accordance with a particular arrangement for enabling an operator to view and easily discern any scanning problems, or incorrect scanning settings. In particular, the multi-function machine includes a scanning assembly; a printing assembly; a thumbnail generation and arrangement module configured to generate thumbnails corresponding to documents scanned by the scanning assembly, said thumbnail generation and arrangement module further configured to arrange the thumbnails for printing by the printing assembly; and at least one processor configured to sense the completion of a document scanning procedure by the scanning assembly and, prior to or after the completion of the document scanning procedure, to automatically actuate said printing assembly for printing the arranged thumbnails.

  • Publication number: 20100280052
Abstract: The invention provides for the use of compounds active against cytomegalovirus (CMV) in the preparation of medicaments for improving the immune response of a CMV-seropositive, immunocompetent individual, or for the amelioration of certain other medical conditions. Suitable compounds include the nucleoside analogues acyclovir, famciclovir, and valacyclovir. Infection with cytomegalovirus is widespread and commonly believed to be both asymptomatic in immunocompetent individuals and unbeatable without the use of highly cytotoxic drugs. It is suggested herein that, in fact, CMV infection produces a disproportionately large immune response, thereby weakening the ability of the immune system to respond to other infections (and hence is not asymptomatic).
