  • Publication number: 20130231806
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for operating a vehicle including an engine comprising a turbocharger including a compressor and a turbine. The engine further includes a bypass path configured to selectively route gas from downstream of the compressor to upstream of the turbine. In one embodiment, the method comprises selectively increasing gas flow to the engine by adjusting gas flow through the bypass path from downstream of the compressor to upstream of the turbine. In this manner, the performance of the engine may be adjusted for various operating conditions.

  • Patent number: 8239535
Abstract: A network architecture with load balancing, fault tolerance and distributed querying comprises a plurality of front-end servers, a plurality of back-end servers, and a database. The front-end servers are coupled to a network to receive data requests from client devices. The front-end servers are each coupled to the plurality of back-end servers. The front-end servers handle data requests at a macro level and divide the request into sub-requests that are sent to the plurality of back-end servers. The back-end servers are coupled to the database to retrieve data. Each data request is distributed across the plurality of back-end servers according to workload. The front-end servers are fault tolerant in that they can respond to a request for data without all of the back-end servers being responsive or providing data.

  • Patent number: 8006187
Abstract: Tools and techniques are provided for interactive fallout analysis. Checkpoints, such as web pages visited, are defined through user input. As the second and subsequent checkpoints are added, fallout metrics are automatically calculated and displayed for the checkpoint pairs. The user receives fallout information interactively, in response to each change in the sequence of checkpoints, rather than being forced to define all checkpoints and then wait while the fallout metrics are calculated for a batch of checkpoint definition changes. Special coloring or other visualization highlights indicate when the fallout between two checkpoints is total.

  • Patent number: 7584435
Abstract: Overlay reports showing user interaction with web plug-in content are generated. Dimensions of elements within plug-in resources are determined by moving the elements to various locations with an output region and noting changes in overall dimensions of the output region. Once dimensions have been determined, overlay reports are generated including color-coded regions depicting relative levels of interaction.

  • Patent number: 7364219
Abstract: A door (6), for example in a vehicle, is mounted at one edge (8) for acurate movement about the axis of a shaft (16), and at the other edge (10) for displacement substantially in the plane of the door opening along rails (26, 28). Thus, on opening, the edge (8) swings outwards from the door opening before moving longitudinally away from the door opening, with the edge (10) being guided along the rails (26 and 28).

  • Publication number: 20070062149
Abstract: Molds and processes that permit high-speed, mass production of retaining wall blocks having patterned or other processed front faces, as well as retaining wall blocks formed by such processes. The invention permits the front face of the block to be impressed with a pattern or otherwise directly processed, to allow the formation of pre-determined block front faces, while at the same time facilitating high-speed, high-volume production of blocks. Pre-determined front faces can include front faces having pre-determined patterns and textures, front faces having pre-determined shapes, front faces made from different material(s) than the remainder of the block, and combinations thereof.

  • Publication number: 20050122833
Abstract: A process and equipment for producing multi-color concrete products, including architectural concrete blocks, concrete bricks, modular concrete products that are suitable for use in landscaping applications, such as retaining wall blocks, concrete pavers, and concrete slabs. The invention includes a spray mechanism that sprays liquid pigment onto concrete discharged from a hopper. The concrete then proceeds to a blending mechanism which blends the pigment into the concrete to produce a multi-color concrete blend. The concrete blend is then used to produce multi-colored concrete products.

  • Patent number: 6549146
Abstract: A timing apparatus comprises a gear, for example a camshaft gear, and a timing ring secured to one side of the gear. The timing ring has a number of equally spaced timing teeth which when used with a sensor provide information about the rotation of the gear. The gear has a generally cylindrical recess on one face of the gear, and the timing ring is secured within the recess. The timing teeth are arranged radially inwardly of the gear teeth, so that the timing teeth are protected from damage. The resulting timing apparatus is economic to manufacture and facilitates compact adaption to a rotating body of an engine.

  • Patent number: 5557515
Abstract: A computerized system and method for managing work in process is provided. Case specific information, including information from an initial transaction is electronically entered into a database and automatically linked with a work source index which includes basic client information. Input information residing in externally generated documents is scanned into the system as images for subsequent display or conversion to textual data. As work is performed on the case, the system tracks its progress and provides a variety of support functions. An electronic activity log function maintains a record of key activities involved in the processing of work items.
