  • Patent number: 9480789
Abstract: A drug delivery system includes drug containers, a pump assembly, a sensor, and a controller. The drug containers each contain a different predetermined drug co-formulation of predetermined first and second drugs, wherein the first drug has a sedative effect. The sensor is adapted to sense a variable associated with the drug containers and output a different drug co-formulation identification signal associated with each of the drug containers based on the sensed variable. The controller is programmed to identify the drug co-formulation for the drug container operatively connected to the pump assembly from the associated identification signal and to control the pump assembly to deliver the drug co-formulation of the one drug container to the patient during a medical procedure according to a corresponding drug delivery algorithm which is different for each of the drug containers. A method is also disclosed which uses the drug delivery system.

  • Publication number: 20060081259
Abstract: A medical effector system comprised of a bedside unit and a procedure unit. The bedside unit contains a series of connection points for receiving inputs from a series of patient monitors. The procedure unit contains a patient monitoring and medical effector program, and a drug delivery pump or magnetic flux generator capable of delivering therapeutic energy to a patient. The medical effector system contains the capability to issue and receive a request from a non-sedated patient, issue and receive a request from a sedated patient and then to calculate a time difference. The medical effector program operates the pump or magnetic flux generator based upon at least some of the patient outputs and program inputs including a calculated time difference. A removable umbilical cable connects the two units and allows the output of the patient monitors as well as other information to travel between the two units.

  • Publication number: 20060042634
Abstract: Disclosed is a device for coupling a respiratory cannula with a medical effector system. The coupling device consists of a plate with several ports for receiving respired gases from the respiratory cannula and for delivering oxygen or air to the respiratory cannula. The coupling device may directly or indirectly deliver the respired gases to a capnometry device located in the medical effector system. Also included is a port for delivering an audio signal from the medical effector system to an audio earpiece disposed proximate the ear of a patient.

  • Patent number: 4563728
Abstract: Disclosed is a pen light having an outer casing, a lamp within the lower end of the casing, battery means within the casing in electrical contact with a first terminal of the lamp, a conductive clip for engaging the battery means toward the upper end of the casing, and a conductive member engaging a second terminal of the lamp and extending into proximity with a free end of the clip so that the free end of the clip can be pushed through a contact opening in the casing into electrical contact with the conductive member to turn on the lamp. The clip is shaped so that it abuts against the upper edge of the contact opening at a point above the free end such that the electrical circuit to the lamp can be closed when pressure is applied to the clip at the free end but cannot be closed when pressure is applied to the clip above the point of contact.
