  • Patent number: 8000251
Abstract: Real-time customer packet traffic is instrumented to determine measured delays between two or more points along a path actually traveled by a packet, such as within or external to one or more packet switching devices. These measurements may include delays within a packet switching device other than the ingress and egress time of a packet. These measured delays can be used to determine whether or not the performance of a packet switching device or network meets desired levels, especially for complying with a Service Level Agreement.

  • Patent number: 8000771
Abstract: A guiding catheter for use in medical procedures includes a flexible shaft with one or more audio transducers and a distal tip. An audio signal may be sent to one or more of the transducers and a reflected signal is received at one or more transducers. The reflected signal is used to detect the presence of an anatomical structure to assist in navigating the catheter to its destination. In another arrangement, the transducer can be used passively to detect physical characteristics of the heart such as sound, subsonic energy or temperature, that indicate relative proximity of a destination vessel.

  • Patent number: 7997110
Abstract: In substantial volume production operations involving hot blow forming or hot stamping of aluminum alloy sheet workpieces, debris largely comprised of particles of aluminum alloy material adheres to critical forming surfaces of the heated steel tools. This debris mars forming surfaces and causes defects in aluminum alloy parts formed against them. Such aluminum-rich debris may be reactively transformed to change its adherent properties and removed from tool surfaces without removing the heated tool from production. In one embodiment, a hot sacrificial magnesium sheet may be formed on the tool(s) to alloy with aluminum debris and carry it from the forming surface.

  • Patent number: 8001510
Abstract: Disclosure is made of approaches for mapping an electronic design specification to an implementation. In one approach, quality metrics are associated with functional units of the design, and the functional units are mapped to respective initial implementations. For each functional unit a respective quality indicator is determined based on the mapping. The quality indicator specifies a degree to which the functional unit achieves the associated quality metric. At least one of the functional units is selected for remapping based on the quality indicator of that functional unit or the quality indicator of another functional unit. An alternative implementation to the initial implementation is selected for each selected functional unit to improve the quality indicator. The selected functional unit is remapped to the selected alternative implementation.
