Abstract: Methods and systems to obtain information in a virtual reality environment for real time communication connections. One embodiment includes: a virtual reality server to host a virtual reality world and an avatar representing a participant of the virtual reality world, the virtual reality world including a virtual object to receive a message from an avatar; a controller to determine a context of the message and select an advertisement based on the context for presentation via the virtual object, the presented advertisement including an embedded reference to be used to request for a connection for real time communications; a session border controller to interface with a packet switched network; and one or more telecommunication servers coupled to the session border controller to connect the avatar to an advertiser of the advertisement for real time communications in response to a user of the avatar selecting the reference.

Abstract: A power takeoff and gearbox is configured for use with an associated vehicle transmission to provide rotational power to an associated auxiliary component. The power takeoff and gearbox includes a housing. An input gear set includes an input gear and a transfer gear mounted for common rotation. The input gear is driven by the associated vehicle transmission. A primary drive gear is disposed on a drive shaft. The primary drive gear is meshed with the transfer gear for rotation with the transfer gear. A planetary gear system includes a carrier, a plurality of planet gears mounted for rotation within the carrier and a sun gear disposed central to the planet gears. The carrier is connected to the primary drive shaft for rotation with the shaft and for rotation of the planet gears relative to the carrier. An output is mounted to the sun gear for providing rotational power to the associated auxiliary component.

Abstract: A warning light and warning light assembly are disclosed. The warning light includes a housing including a base and a translucent cover. The warning light includes one or more light emitting diodes within the housing, each of the light emitting diodes operable to emit light substantially along an optical output axis. The warning light also includes a reflector within the housing, the reflector including a reflective surface having a curve section disposed substantially perpendicular to the optical output axis of at least one of the one or more light emitting diodes.

Abstract: It is determined whether a location of a mobile device is within a coverage region of a first information service. Communications for the first information service are redirected to a second information service when the location of the mobile device is not within a coverage region of the first information service. The second information service generally has a coverage region encompassing the location of the mobile device. Communications between a mobile device and a first information service are redirected to another information service when properties of the new information service are determined to meet predetermined criteria set by a user of the mobile device, by an application, or both. In yet another aspect of the invention, Replacement of information services can be “aggressive” or “non-aggressive.

Abstract: A semiconductor structure provides lower parasitic capacitance between the gate electrode and contact vias while providing substantially the same level of stress applied by a nitride liner as conventional MOSFETs by reducing the height of the gate electrode and maintaining substantially the same height for the gate spacer. The nitride liner contacts only the outer sidewalls of the gate spacer, while not contacting inner sidewalls, or only a small area of the inner sidewalls of the gate spacer, therefore applying substantially the same level of stress to the channel of the MOSFET as conventional MOSFETs. The volume surrounded by the gate spacer and located above the gate electrode is either filled with a low-k dielectric material or occupied by a cavity having a dielectric constant of substantially 1.0. The reduced height of the gate electrode and the low-k dielectric gate filler or the cavity reduces the parasitic capacitance.

Abstract: This invention relates to a method and a system for evaluating proximity. A reference object is moved such that it enters at least two different proximity areas of two different proximity indicators, whereby proximity indications are generated. The time difference between the indications is measured. If the time difference is within predefined range it is ascertained that the reference object is within a well defined area. Thus, the fact that the speed of movement of a physical object is significantly limited is used for obtaining reliable proximity evaluations.

Abstract: The present invention provides novel pseudotyped retroviral vectors that can transduce human and other cells. Vectors are provided that are packaged efficiently in packaging cells and cell lines to generate high titer recombinant virus stocks expressing novel envelope glycoproteins. The present invention further relates to compositions for gene therapy.

Abstract: A mower deck lift mechanism for a lawn mower includes a mower deck, a linkage mechanism for movably mounting the mower deck to the frame for raising and lowering movement relative to the frame, and an electro-hydraulic actuator assembly connected to the linkage mechanism for raising and lowering the mower deck relative to the frame. The actuator assembly is an integrated unit including a hydraulic piston-cylinder assembly connected to the linkage mechanism, a pump for supplying pressurized fluid to the piston-cylinder assembly, and an electric motor for driving the pump.

Abstract: A process for recovering heavy oil with the steps of: a) injecting into one or more injection wells an aqueous injection fluid containing one or more surfactants designed to form a pseudo-emulsion between the injection fluid and the heavy oil, and, b) recovering the oil from one or more producing wells. The process does not require the addition of outside mechanical or thermal energy or solvents to recover the heavy oil and does not form emulsions between the injection fluid and the heavy oil that may be difficult to break when brought to the surface or may cause increased viscosity and injectivity problems within the reservoir.

Abstract: Inventive embodiments are directed to components, subassemblies, systems, and/or methods for continuously variable transmissions (CVT). In one embodiment, a main axle is adapted to receive a shift rod that cooperates with a shift rod nut to actuate a ratio change in a CVT. In another embodiment, an axial force generating mechanism can include a torsion spring, a traction ring adapted to receive the torsion spring, and a roller cage retainer configured to cooperate with the traction ring to house the torsion spring. Various inventive idler-and-shift-cam assemblies can be used to facilitate shifting the ratio of a CVT. Embodiments of a hub shell and a hub cover are adapted to house components of a CVT and, in some embodiments, to cooperate with other components of the CVT to support operation and/or functionality of the CVT. Among other things, shift control interfaces and braking features for a CVT are disclosed.

Abstract: This invention provides a blend which comprises (i) at least one aromatic primary diamine, with which has been blended a color-minimizing amount of at least one N,N-dmydrocarbylhydroxylamine, wherein the aromatic primary diamine is in the form of one benzene ring having two primary amino groups on the ling, which amino groups are meta or para relative to each other, and in which each position ortho to a primary amino group bears an alkyl group, and (ii) at least one aromatic secondary diamine having a Gardner color number no more than about 7, wherein said aromatic secondary diamine either is in the form of one benzene ring having two secondary amino groups on the ring, or is in the form of two benzene rings connected by an alkylene bridge and having one secondary amino group on each ring. Optionally, at least one N,N-dihydrocarbylhydroxylamine has been blended with the aromatic secondary diamine.

Abstract: The present invention provides a highly purified recombinant human precursor N-acetylgalactosamine-4-sulfatase and biologically active mutants, fragments and analogs thereof as well as pharmaceutical formulations comprising highly purified recombinant human precursor N-acetylgalactosamine-4-sulfatase. The invention also provides methods for treating diseases caused all or in part by deficiencies in human N-acetylgalactosamine-4-sulfatase including MPS VI and methods for producing and purifying the recombinant precursor enzyme to a highly purified form.

Abstract: MRI/RF compatible leads include at least one conductor, a respective conductor having at least one segment with a multi-layer stacked coil configuration. The lead can be configured so that the lead heats local tissue less than about 10 degrees Celsius (typically about 5 degrees Celsius or less) or does not heat local tissue when a patient is exposed to target RF frequencies at a peak input SAR of at least about 4 W/kg and/or a whole body average SAR of at least about 2 W/kg. Related leads and methods of fabricating leads are also described.

Abstract: A method is provided for joining tubes. An outer tube and an inner tube are provided. An end of the inner tube is inserted into an end of the outer tube to form an overlapped region of tube wall and form a pressure tight joint between the tubes. The overlapped region of the tubes is heated. The tubes are placed in pair of dies having a die cavity adjacent to the outer tube. Pressure is introduced into the tubes to expand the overlapped region of the tubes outwardly into the die cavity and thereby form an interlocking joint between the overlapped region of the outer tube and the inner tube.

Abstract: A three-dimensional voxel space is generated in which to generate a simulated neural circuit. The voxel space includes a plurality of voxels that store localized information. After the voxel space is generated, a plurality of simulated branched neurons, each of which has one or more input and/or output branches that occupy at least one of the voxels, are embedded in the voxel space. One or more of the branches of the plurality of simulated neurons then are generated in a manner that changes the voxels occupied by the grown branches, and the localized information stored in the voxels is updated to reflect the changes in the voxels occupied by the grown branches.

Abstract: A method for making a rotor for a permanent magnet motor, the method, in at least certain aspects, including connecting a series of a plurality of guides to a hollow rotor body, the guides spaced-apart and extending longitudinally of the rotor body, the rotor body being generally cylindrical with an interior surface, applying a plurality of magnets to the interior surface of the rotor body, and emplacing a shunt structure over the plurality of magnets to inhibit inter-magnet action during rotor assembly.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a selection process executing in an optimizing engine is invoked as users are presented with web pages that include ad content. The selection process provides an initial population of sets of characteristics that specify an initial generation of layouts of ads for the pages. The characteristics can include anything that affects an ads appearance on the display. For example, ad type, position within a web page, color, size, text font, animation, etc. can be specified. Statistics are obtained as to each ad or page layout's performance or impact on the user, such as revenue obtained from ads in the layout, how many user's click an ad, how long users view an ad, etc. Once a large enough sample of user impacts is obtained a second population of sets of characteristics is created to improve the overall performance of the initial population.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer program products are provided for controlling a GUI display for a plug-in in an application supporting plug-ins. Embodiments include receiving, at run time, in the application from the plug-in a request to display a GUI object; responsive to the request, retrieving an XML representation of the GUI object; and displaying the GUI object in dependence upon the retrieved XML representation of the GUI object. Typical embodiments also include receiving from the plug-in a request to retrieve user input responsive to the GUI object; and returning to the plug-in responsive user input.
