Abstract: Systems and methods are provides for displaying a second window for a multi-screen device in response to opening the device. The window stack can change based on the change in the orientation of the device. The system can receive an orientation change that transitions the device from a closed state to an open state. A previously created, but inactive, window in the stack can be displayed on one of the two or more displays comprising the device when opened. The previously created window become active to be displayed on the second of the displays after the device is opened.

Abstract: A tracking-enabled extended-reach tool system acting upon a workpiece. The tool system includes a gimbal positioned adjacent an opening in a surface, a sensor system, a computer control, and a display. The extended-reach arm has a first end, a second end, an end effector including a tool adjacent the first end. The extended-reach arm engages the gimbal for relative rotational movement and relative slidable movement through the opening positioning the end effector and the tool on a side of the surface opposite the second end. The sensor system is configured to measure a linear position of the extended-reach arm relative to the gimbal. The computer control receives signals from the sensor system indicative of the linear position of the extended-reach arm relative to the gimbal. The display is connected to the computer control and displays a representation of the workpiece and the tool relative to each other in real time.

Abstract: An interactive play set is described which comprises one or more active physical play pieces. In an embodiment, each active physical play piece receives data from one or more other play pieces in the play set and uses this data to generate proximity data. The proximity data describes distances between two or more play pieces from which it receives data to three or more proximity levels. The proximity data is then transmitted to an interactive entertainment experience (such as a game) which reflects changes in proximity level. For example, the changes may be visible in a graphical user interface or another play piece or audible to a user.

Abstract: A system and method for controlling electrical power in a multi-phase electrical service to a load is provided. The system includes an electric meter that determines when an electrical characteristic of a phase of a multi-phase electrical service is below a threshold. A first switch and second switch are coupled to the first phase and second phase respectively and disconnect the phases from a power source. A bridging switch is coupled between the phases, the bridging switch being arranged between the load and the first and second switches. A controller is coupled between the electric meter, the first switch, the second switch, and the bridging switch. The controller causes the first switch to open in response to the electrical characteristic of the first phase being below the threshold and causing the bridging switch to close when the first switch is opened.

Abstract: A method for analysis of hydrocarbons in water, the method comprising the steps of: extracting the hydrocarbons from a water sample; introducing the extracted hydrocarbons to a solvent system; determining the relative concentrations of the hydrocarbons in the solvent system and at least one solvent in the solvent system by 1H NMR analysis, wherein the solvent system comprises at least one solvent with a 1H NMR signal distinguishable from a 1H NMR signal of the hydrocarbons.

Abstract: Techniques are described in which a system having multiple processing units processes a series of work units in a processing pipeline, where some or all of the work units access or manipulate data stored in non-coherent memory. In one example, this disclosure describes a method that includes identifying, prior to completing processing of a first work unit with a processing unit of a processor having multiple processing units, a second work unit that is expected to be processed by the processing unit after the first work unit. The method also includes processing the first work unit, and prefetching, from non-coherent memory, data associated with the second work unit into a second cache segment of the buffer cache, wherein prefetching the data associated with the second work unit occurs concurrently with at least a portion of the processing of the first work unit by the processing unit.

Abstract: A method includes receiving one or more social networking updates, identifying update information corresponding to each of the one or more social networking updates, wherein update information includes at least user information, interaction information, and time information, calculating a prioritization score for each of the one or more social networking updates according to the identified update information, prioritizing the one or more updates based on the calculated prioritization scores, and displaying the one or more updates according to the prioritization. A computer program product and computer system corresponding to the method are also disclosed.

The memory can include a Q-matrix that can include data identifying a relationship between at least a portion of a standard and at least one item of an assessment. The system can include at least one server. The at least one server can provide a first interim assessment including a first plurality of items. Each of the items can correspond to a child evidence node in a Bayesian network. The at least one server can generate first evidence by evaluating responses received to the first plurality of items from the first interim assessment and can calculate a mastery probability according to the Bayesian network of at least one parent node in the Bayesian network based on the generated first evidence.

Abstract: A method and system for initiating message listening and routing message content to authorized user devices is disclosed. For a second user device to receive notifications regarding records of a first user, the second user device provides information identifying the first user to a notification service. The notification service verifies the identifying information. The notification service initiates one or more listeners to listen for messages flowing over a messaging bus that are relating to the first user. Once a message is identified, at least a portion of the message is used to generate a notification that may be sent to the second user device.

The method further comprises generating a plurality of playlists for the single media session. The plurality of playlists comprise a first playlist comprising a first media data segment stored in the transient buffer, and a second playlist comprising a second media data segment stored in a storage device on board the vehicle, the second media data segment of a second media stream.

Abstract: The present specification describes systems and methods for filtering a video game user's match performance data or loadout data through validation mechanisms. For the performance data, the validated, signed performance data are written to a leaderboard service of the video gaming system. For the loadout data, the validated, signed performance loadout data are transmitted back to the client device and used when playing a game. Free computing and/or networking resources of the client game device are used as an intermediate between the client devices, validation services, and/or leaderboard services.

Abstract: Mechanisms are provided for evaluating a temporal relevance of a candidate answer to an input natural language question. An input natural language question is received and analyzed to identify a temporal focus of the input natural language question. A corpus of documents is processed based on the input natural language question to generate candidate answers to the input natural language question, where each candidate answer is processed to identify at least one contextual temporal focus associated with the candidate answer. The at least one contextual temporal focus is compared with the temporal focus of the input natural language question and a measure of temporal relevance of the candidate answer based on results of the comparison is generated. A final answer to the input natural language question is output based on the measure of temporal relevance.
