  • Publication number: 20190101397
Abstract: In some implementations, a computing device can manage conflicts using conflict islands. For example, when a computing device receives bulk map data updates, the computing device can determine conflicts between point updates (e.g., small, ad hoc feature edits) in the current map data and the bulk map data updates. When the bulk map data updates are merged with the current map data, a point update for a map feature may conflict with the bulk update for the feature. The computing device can determine a perimeter of stable map features around the conflicted feature. The map features within the perimeter can correspond to a conflict island. The bulk updates for features within a conflict island (e.g., within the perimeter) can be deferred until resolved while bulk updates for features outside of a conflict island can be applied to the current map data.

  • Publication number: 20190102524
Abstract: Introduced here are mechanisms and techniques for reconciling entitlements in a digital rights management (DRM) environment. Such technology can be used to discover compliant license positions for a licensee responsible for managing one or more computing devices. For example, a compliance platform may authenticate a computing device belonging to the licensee, apply a heuristic to discover an optimal compliant license position, and permit the computing device to use software resource(s) in accordance with certain permission(s). The heuristic may consider the contention of multiple license entitlements and the need of each possible assignment. The contention of a license entitlement generally increases as the number of possible assignments increases and as the number of available installations decreases. Meanwhile, the need of a possible assignment represents how important it is for a given installation to be assigned to a specific license entitlement.

  • Publication number: 20190104643
Abstract: A heatsink includes a fin-set that includes a corrugated ribbon having a first, deformable, portion and a second, convective, portion that is not deformed. A plurality of corrugated ribbons may be physically and/or thermally coupled (e.g., via mechanical fasteners, thermally conductive bonding, or reflow) to form the heatsink. A force may be applied to the heatsink sufficient to at least partially crush the first, deformable, portion to conform to an external surface of an electronic device. The heatsink may be physically affixed and thermally coupled to an external surface of the electronic device via mechanical fasteners, thermally conductive adhesives or via reflow of a low-melt temperature layer disposed on an external surface of the heatsink. The crushed portion of the first, deformable, portion conforms to the regular (e.g., planar) or irregular surface profile of the electronic device, beneficially and surprisingly improving thermal performance of the heatsink.

  • Patent number: 10248754
Abstract: An identification of a first area of an IC design surrounding a failure component is received; and, in response, a smaller portion of the first area is selected. The smaller portion also surrounds the failure component, is smaller than the first area, and contains less circuit components than the first area. The smaller portion is matched to other areas of the IC design to identify potentially undesirable patterns of the IC design that are the same size as the first area. Additionally, the potentially undesirable patterns are grouped into pattern categories, the pattern categories are matched to known good pattern categories, and the known good patterns are removed from the potentially undesirable patterns to leave potential failure patterns. The potential failure patterns of the IC design are then output.
