  • Publication number: 20180031652
Abstract: A method according to the invention for the slice-specific adjustment of RF pulses when recording MR signals of an examination subject with the use of a slice multiplexing method in which MR signals from at least two different slices of the examination subject are detected simultaneously when recording the MR signals, has the following steps. The respective position of the slices to be simultaneously detected in the examination subject are determined and designated in a processor. For each slice to be detected simultaneously, monoslice RF pulse parameters are determined in the processor based on the determined position of the respective slice. The monoslice RF pulse parameters are corrected in the processor based on at least one examination subject-specific parameter map, which maps the spatial distribution of a system parameter in the examination subject, and the determined position.

  • Publication number: 20180034089
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for incorporating molten carbonate fuel cells into a heat recovery steam generation system (HRSG) for production of electrical power while also reducing or minimizing the amount of CO2 present in the flue gas exiting the HRSG. An optionally multi-layer screen or wall of molten carbonate fuel cells can be inserted into the HRSG so that the screen of molten carbonate fuel cells substantially fills the cross-sectional area. By using the walls of the HRSG and the screen of molten carbonate fuel cells to form a cathode input manifold, the overall amount of duct or flow passages associated with the MCFCs can be reduced.

  • Publication number: 20180028117
Abstract: Provided herein is a probe for ultrasound imaging of tissue. The probe comprises an optical relay having an optically absorbing coating at the distal end of the probe for generating ultrasound from excitation light via the photoacoustic effect, wherein the generated ultrasound propagates as an ultrasound beam into the tissue; and an ultrasound receiver separate from the optical relay. The optical relay is configured to receive as input a time-varying spatial pattern of excitation light at the proximal end of the probe and to transmit the excitation light to the distal end of the probe to illuminate the optically absorbing coating in accordance with said time-varying spatial pattern, thereby generating ultrasound from the excitation light via the photoacoustic effect to propagate as a scanning ultrasound beam into the tissue. The ultrasound receiver is configured to receive reflections of the ultrasound from tissue. Such an ultrasound probe may be incorporated, for example, into a transseptal puncture needle.

  • Publication number: 20180032510
Abstract: In some cases, a localization service may identify candidate strings in the source code of an application. Further, the localization service may determine whether the candidate strings are displayed literals in a first human-perceivable language. In addition, the localization service may replace the identified displayed literals with identification tokens to generate pivot source code. In some examples, an identification token may include a JavaScript function that returns a translation of a displayed literal in a second human-perceivable language or any other desired human-perceivable language. Further, the localization service may verify pivot source code by comparing a localized application corresponding to the pivot source code to the application with the original source code of the application.

  • Publication number: 20180028742
Abstract: A patient care system is disclosed that includes a medical device such as an infusion pump. The medical device generates a data message containing information such as the status of the therapy being delivered, operating data or both. An alarm generating system assesses the data message from the pump and generates an alarm message if certain conditions established by a first set of rules are met. The alarm message is assessed according to a second set of rules as to whether to suppress the alarm message. The data message contains a required input for both the first and second algorithms. A dispatching system is adapted to forward the alarm message to an alarm destination according to a third set of rules. The alarm destination expresses an alarm upon receipt of the alarm message.

  • Publication number: 20180031453
Abstract: The present disclosure describes a method of treating a sample comprising cells with a process of partial lysing. Cells are exposed to a process such as bead beating that lyses some cells in the mixture. The process generates a resultant sample mixture that is suitable for both cell morphology screening and genetic screening. A first portion of the partially lysed sample can be mounted on a slide and observed for atypical cells and cytologic abnormalities. A second portion of the partially lysed sample can be screened for genetic markers known to correlate with a risk of cervical cancer. The method is particularly useful for cervical screening, where a combination of cytology and genetic screening present a more complete picture of cervical health. The disclosed method streamlines the diagnostic process for protocols that require both types of assays, without compromising screening accuracy.
