  • Publication number: 20030144910
Abstract: A system, method, hardware and software are provided that facilitate the distribution of inventory to point of sale devices in accordance with just-in-time and other communication methodologies. The JIT inventory distribution process is implemented in connection with a server that includes transaction and product databases, and a client terminal configured for communication with the server. In response to a prepaid service transaction initiated at the terminal, such as a request for wireless telephone air time, a JIT products pool located at the terminal is queried and the requested product is identified and delivered by the terminal. A connection is established between the terminal and the server and transaction information and a replacement product request are transmitted to the server. The requested replacement product is retrieved from the JIT products pool of the server and transmitted to the terminal. The server transaction database is then appropriately updated.

  • Publication number: 20030144909
Abstract: A terminal is provided for implementing prepaid service transactions, facilitating employee training, and promoting products and services to consumers. The terminal can be employed in various environments and includes a keypad with number, function, and navigation keys. A thermal printer and magswipe card reader are also provided. Communication is implemented by hardwire or wireless connection using various communication methodologies and protocols. An interface display provided on the front of the permits users to interact with the terminal for purposes such as training, obtaining reports, and implementing prepaid service transactions. A programmable media display is mounted on the back of the terminal oriented and positioned in such a way as to be readily perceived by consumers or prospective consumers. The relatively large size of the media display, as well as its location, promotes ready perception and recognition by consumers and allows a variety of messages and information to be displayed.

  • Publication number: 20030144908
Abstract: A system, method and software are provided for use in the conduct of point-of-sale training concerning the implementation of prepaid services transactions, and related processes, in a client-server environment. Initiation of a training session at the client causes a corresponding training request to be transmitted to the server. A valid training request causes a query of a database, for information concerning the product and service mix then supported by the requesting terminal. Such information, which may include interactive training screens and training scripts, is then compiled into training materials specific to the requested training session. Upon compilation of the relevant training materials, the requested specific training session is then commenced at the terminal.
