  • Publication number: 20040132174
Abstract: A perfusion incubator having an incubation well assembly is provided. A peristaltic pump may supply medium from a medium supply and pass it through a medium conditioning unit before supplying the medium to the incubation well assembly. Each well assembly may have an upper portion and a lower portion, a medium inlet and a medium outlet. The medium inlet may be positioned at a mid point in the well and the medium outlet is positioned above the medium inlet. An embryo may reside in the lower portion of the well. The well assembly may be formed from a permeable material through which a gas, such as carbon dioxide and/or oxygen, can diffuse.

  • Patent number: 6627435
Abstract: A perfusion incubator having a fluid conditioning unit (12), a well assembly (7) and a well assembly heating unit (14), a peristaltic pump (4) and a fluid collection unit (11). The well assembly has a number of wells (20, 21) each having a transparent lid (30) and a fluid inlet (26) and a fluid outlet (27). An illumination device (13) is under the well so that the cell being cultured in the well assembly can be observed by means of a microscope (15). Each fluid inlet (26) is positioned so as to allow a tangential entry of fluid to the well at a mid point in the well, and each fluid outlet (27) is above the fluid inlet with the cell to be cultured in a lower portion of the well so that flow of fluid in the well is formed into a vortex which tends to draw fluid from around the cell without direct flow over the embryo.

  • Publication number: 20030072267
Abstract: In a wireless communications network, different service levels can be subscribed to by users of mobile stations for packet-switched communications, such as electronic mail, web browsing, text chat, packet-switched voice communications, and so forth. In one arrangement, two different levels are defined. For a first level, when there is no more data to send over a wireless interface between a mobile station and a wireless access system, a logical connection between the mobile station and wireless access system is released. However, at a second level, the logical connection between the mobile station and the wireless access system is not released until after a predetermined timed period from when a send buffer becomes empty, with the send buffer containing data for sending over the wireless interface. A benefit of releasing the logical connection after some predetermined wait period is that the delays associated with establishing another logical connection are reduced.

  • Patent number: 6480718
Abstract: A system and method for automatic frequency planning in a wireless communications network is disclosed. The method determines frequency isolation between a first and second cell of the wireless communication network. The method broadcasts a first frequency in the first cell and a second frequency in the second cell. A mobile unit operating in the first cell measures both the first and second frequencies and reports the measurements using a mobile assisted handoff (MAHO) procedure. In some embodiments, the mobile unit repeatedly measures and reports the first and second frequencies. The difference between the first and second frequency is stored in an isolation matrix and analyzed to determine the frequency isolation.

  • Publication number: 20020082033
Abstract: A wireless communications system includes a mobile station and a base station system that are capable of communicating on the wireless links (uplink and downlink). The mobile station is capable of establishing a logical connection, such as a temporary block flow, on the uplink, while the base station system establishes a logical connection on the downlink. When either the mobile station or the base station system detects end of data transmission, a predetermined wait period is started during which the mobile station or base station system does not start a procedure to release the logical connection on the uplink or downlink.

  • Patent number: 5825015
Abstract: A machine readable binary code includes a two-dimensional matrix of data cells (6) having a plurality of sides. A unique sub-array of data cells (1, 2, 3, 4) is positioned at the point of intersection of each pair of adjacent sides to define and uniquely identify each corner of the matrix.

  • Patent number: 5375242
Abstract: An improved compilation and linkage system for use in operating a computer to generate a cross-module optimized executable code file from a plurality of source files and object files. The source files are compiled to intermediate code files using a compiler sub-system. In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the intermediate code files consist of intermediate language instructions that can be optimized for execution on a predetermined computer and a global symbol table. The compiler sub-system can also be used to generate conventional object code files if desired. A linkage sub-system is then used to cross-module optimize the code in a plurality of intermediate code files and link the resultant object code with any other object code files to generate the executable code file for execution on the computer in question.

  • Patent number: 5339419
Abstract: A computer software compiler system and method for distributing a machine independent computer program, created on a native computer platform, to heterogeneous target computer platforms. The system is comprised of a producer component and one or more installer components. The producer component receives the machine independent computer program as input and generates a compiler intermediate representation in a machine independent manner according to an HPcode-Plus compiler intermediate language. The compiler intermediate representation is architecture neutral and represents an architecture neutral distribution format (ANDF). The compiler intermediate representation is distributed to heterogeneous target computer platforms where the installer components reside.

  • Patent number: 5280613
Abstract: A computer software compiler system and method for distributing a machine independent computer program, created on a native computer platform, to heterogeneous target computer platforms. The system comprises installer components which exist on heterogeneous target computer platforms. The installers receive a compiler intermediate representation of the machine independent computer program. The compiler intermediate representation is architecture neutral and represents an architecture neutral distribution format. The installers translate the compiler intermediate representation to object code representations according to an HPcode-Plus compiler intermediate language. The installers operate in a machine dependent manner such that the object code representations are architecture dependent, or machine dependent, on the target computer platforms.
