  • Patent number: 12247396
Abstract: In an aspect a method of manufacturing a ceiling panel is described. The method may include: combining a binding agent with plastic flakes; passing the plastic flakes and the binding agent to a lamination machine; applying a force to the binding agent and the plastic flakes using the lamination machine to create a plastic sheet; and adding a decorative ceiling treatment to a first side of the plastic sheet.

    Assignee: CSR Industries Inc.
    Inventor: Paul Charles Downey
  • Patent number: 11939778
Abstract: A method of reducing sound transmission in a building constructed using horizontal cross laminated timber (CLT) panels to provide a floor of the building and a floor assembly are described. In an implementation, the method includes: attaching a plurality of energy transmission control mounts to a ceiling side of one or more of the cross-laminated timber panels using fasteners; attaching a plurality of furring channels to the energy transmission control mounts; and attaching a cross laminated timber sheet to the plurality of furring channels to form an exposed ceiling layer.

    Assignee: Pliteq Inc.
Inventors: Paul Charles Downey, Wilson Byrick
  • Patent number: 11906467
Abstract: Kits, apparatuses, and methods are provided for measuring acoustic properties of a surface. In an implementation, a kit may be provided. The kit may comprise an elongated pin; a tube having first and second ends, the tube having at least one pair of diametrically opposing holes, the at least one pair of diametrically opposing holes operable to support the elongated pin therethrough; a mass adapted to be received through the first and second ends of the tube; wherein placement of the elongated pin through a first pair of the at least one pair of diametrically opposing holes may prevent movement of the mass through the tube; and wherein removal of the elongated pin through the first pair of the at least one pair of diametrically opposing holes may allow passage of the mass through the tube.

  • Patent number: 6920723
Abstract: A substrate for use in a flooring system which has a subfloor and a decorative upper layer. The substrate is made in a continuous sheet which has a bottom surface, a top surface, side surfaces and end surfaces. The top surface and the oppositely facing bottom surface are essentially parallel to each other and are spaced apart by the thickness of the substrate. Voids are provided in the substrate, the voids are provided between particles of rubber or other similar material. When the substrate is positioned between the subfloor and the decorative top layer, the particles of rubber provide the strength required to prevent deformation of the substrate in the direction of the thickness and the voids contribute to the sound dampening characteristics required to provide decibel reduction across the thickness of the substrate.
