  • Publication number: 20150039991
Abstract: A method of creating, with a hardware system, a synchronised soundtrack for an item of electronic media content in which the playback of the soundtrack is synchronised with the user's reading speed. The method generates a graphical user interface (GUI) on a display comprising a reading display pane displaying at least a portion of the electronic media content in a reading format and a linear progression display pane displaying a linear progression of a range of reading position identifiers corresponding to at least a portion of the electronic media content displayed on the first display pane. User interaction with a GUI of the interface is used to configure audio data for each new audio region of the soundtrack. Both the reading display pane and linear progression display pane are simultaneously updated with graphical representations of the newly configured audio region showing an association between the audio region and the corresponding text region in the electronic media content to which it relates.

  • Publication number: 20150025663
Abstract: A method and system for streaming a soundtrack from a server to a remote user device for a reader of electronic media content. The soundtrack is defined by multiple audio regions. Each audio region defined by an audio track for playback in the audio region, a start position in the electronic media content corresponding to where the playback of the audio region is to begin, and a stop position in the electronic media content corresponding to where the playback of the audio region is to cease. The streaming of the soundtrack is based on control data generated by the remote user device.

  • Patent number: 8934957
Abstract: A non-invasive sensor has a contact membrane (6,16) and a cover membrane (2,12), the cover membrane being adapted for extension of a body surface to project the contact membrane against a body surface beneath it. The contact membrane will normally be attached to the cover membrane around its periphery such that at least one of the membranes forms a convex outer surface, and a spacing material (8,20) can be interposed between the membranes to achieve this object. The cover membrane may extend over a support element (10), with the contact membrane overlaying and spaced from the other face of the support element by spacing material.

  • Publication number: 20150012106
Abstract: Orthopaedic assemblies including a tibial component and one of a fixed tibial insert or a rotatable tibial insert. The assemblies may include structure to prevent undesired movement between the tibial component and insert. For example, a retaining tab may be provided on the tibial component that couples to a tab opening on a surface of the tibial insert (either the fixed or rotatable insert). When assembled, the retaining tab may be covered to avoid possible irritation to the patient's surrounding anatomy. The fixed tibial insert may be provided with a tab opening that provides a minimal amount clearance with the retaining tab to help prevent rotation of the fixed tibial insert. The rotatable tibial insert may be provided with a tab opening with more clearance with the retaining tab to allow at least some rotation with the tibial component.

  • Patent number: 8805737
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for operation upon data processing devices are provided for operating with a fraud detection system. As an example, a system and method can be configured for receiving, throughout a current day in real-time or near real-time, financial transaction data representative of financial transactions initiated by different entities. At multiple times throughout the day, a summarization of the financial transaction data (which has been received within a time period within the current day) is generated. The generated summarization is used to determine whether fraud has occurred with respect to a financial transaction contained in the received authorization data or with respect to a subsequently occurring financial transaction.

  • Publication number: 20140222407
Abstract: A method positions a profile of a prosthetic component on the three-dimensional model of a limb. Patient-specific anatomical data of the limb is gathered. First and second anatomical landmarks are identified to determine a first spatial relationship. A third anatomical landmark is identified to determine a second spatial relationship with respect to the first spatial relationship. The profile of the prosthetic component is positioned in all but one degree of freedom. A fourth anatomical landmark is identified to position the profile of the prosthetic component in the one remaining degree of freedom.

  • Publication number: 20140198159
Abstract: An improved pinch valve includes a camshaft and associated cam(s) controlling the position of a pivotally-mounted first pinch arm and an opposed, pivotally-mounted second pinch arm. The respective pinch arms are provided symmetrically about a central plane which contains an axis of the camshaft. A spring extends across the central plane and interconnects the respective pinch arms so as to urge both pinch arms towards the central plane. A mechanical advantage lever is provided such that the pinching force is greater than the spring force.
