  • Patent number: 9239133
Abstract: A solid state illumination system is disclosed, wherein a light source module comprises a first light source, comprising an LED and a phosphor layer, the LED emitting a wavelength ?1 in an absorption band of the phosphor layer for generating longer wavelength broadband light emission from the phosphor, ??PHOSPHOR, and a second light source comprising a laser emitting a wavelength ?2 in the absorption band of the phosphor layer. While operating the LED, concurrent laser pumping of the phosphor layer increases the light emission of the phosphor, and provides high brightness emission, e.g. in green, yellow or amber spectral regions. Additional modules, which provide emission at other wavelengths, e.g. in the UV and near UV spectral bands, together with dichroic beam-splitters/combiners allow for an efficient, compact, high-brightness illumination system, suitable for fluorescence imaging and analysis.

  • Publication number: 20150220534
Abstract: A ranking approach is used to determine rank-based relationships. In connection with various embodiments, the present invention is directed to a method for ranking nodes of a graph. A vector is provided as a function of a set of random parameters, and a probability matrix function is used, relative to nodes of the graph, to assess the statistics of the vector that solves a probability-based system. Certain embodiments are directed to determining a page rank for a web-based search.

  • Publication number: 20150062698
Abstract: A high power microscopy illumination system is disclosed, including a solid state illumination source. A diffusing collection lens having a diffusing surface is configured to collect and diffuse light emission from the solid state illumination source. An emitting surface is disposed substantially opposite the diffusing surface. An optical coupling element couples the light emission from the diffusing collection lens emitting surface along an optical axis to an optical output. The diffusing collection lens provides improved uniformity of illumination with direct coupling, without significant power loss.

  • Patent number: 4203659
Abstract: An apparatus designed for the purpose of viewing transparencies on an overhead projector is disclosed. The apparatus incorporates a frame and the transparencies are retained by a portion of the frame defining a mounting member. Substantially all of the weight of the frame is concentrated in the mounting member and a member in opposed, spaced relationship to the mounting member. Tabs extending from the mounting member into the area circumscribed by the frame, in which area the transparencies are positioned for storage and display, serve to retain the transparencies in relative alignment.

  • Patent number: 4099437
Abstract: A musical instrument which comprises (i) a portable transmitter unit, (ii) a receiver unit, and (iii) a standard or modified piano, electronic organ, or other keyboard musical device. The transmitter unit has sixty keys, each of which corresponds to a key of the remote piano, organ, or other keyboard musical device, and also has eight auxiliary switches for controlling the receiver and auxiliary functions of the musical device to be remotely played. The transmitter includes electronic circuitry which scans the keys and auxiliary switches, and transmits an FM signal modulated by a serial digital pulse train identifying the transmitter keys which are depressed and the auxiliary switches which have been actuated. The receiver unit decodes the transmitted pulse train, eliminates erroneous data, and generates output signals to control the corresponding keys and auxiliary functions.
