  • Patent number: 6391568
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for the quantification and assessment of platelet activation in whole blood samples and monitoring of antiplatelet pharmacologic agents. The method for quantifying platelet activation includes exposing platelets to a physiological concentration of an agonist that activates some of the platelets, resulting in the formation of at least one binding site on the surface of the activated platelets, and measuring the activated platelets. The present invention provides a method of assessing specific components of platelet activation.

  • Patent number: 4463226
Abstract: The present invention demonstrates apparatus to initiate the timing cycle of a cam operated timer which is durable and works in a smooth, even fashion. The apparatus includes a first electric motor having a rotatable shaft, said shaft being joined to a clutch or ratchet assembly. A second electric motor drives the cam operated timer during the timing cycle while the clutch or ratchet assembly allows the first motor to disengage.

  • Patent number: 4438295
Abstract: The invention presented herein comprises apparatus and method for remote activation of heating and cooling systems in homes or other buildings. A user may wish to turn the heat on before returning home after a day in a distant office and by simply dialing the telephone at his office and allowing it to ring at his home a prescribed number of times a thermostatic regulated furnace may be turned on and his house is warmed to the desired temperature before his arrival. The invention may be used for heating or air conditioning systems and can be effectively activated wherever telephone lines are available.

  • Patent number: 4419548
Abstract: The present invention demonstrates an apparatus and method for accurately providing electrical current to appliances or the like for selected time periods. The apparatus includes a series of cam wheels which are notched and the arcuate distances between the notches on the periphery of the wheels determine the length of time the current is supplied to said appliance. A plurality of wheels is provided with notches spaced at different intervals to provide the user a variety of selectable time periods.
