  • Patent number: 4787998
Abstract: The invention pertains to fragrant aqueous liquid detergent compositions. By the inclusion therein of shear thinning polymers, having viscosities within defined ranges, improved products are obtained which, when compared with fragrant compositions with other polymers, show an improved longevity of the fragrance, even at a reduced perfume level.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 18, 1987
Date of Patent: November 29, 1988
    Assignee: Lever Brothers Company
Inventors: George K. Rennie, Paul D. Hardman
  • Patent number: 4734221
Abstract: Stable, high-concentration (60-80% active matter) aqueous liquid detergent compositions based on dialkyl sulphosuccinates and alkyl ether sulphates contain a lower alcohol, preferably ethanol, and water, the ratio of lower alcohol to water exceeding a critical ratio which varies with the total active detergent content. The compositions may be thickened by means of hydroxypropyl guars, polyethylene oxides, or hydrophilically substituted cellulosic polymers such as hydroxyethyl cellulose.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 14, 1987
Date of Patent: March 29, 1988
    Assignee: Lever Brothers Company
Inventors: Robert J. Edwards, Paul D. Hardman, Melvin Scott, Carey J. Walsh, Peter Winterbotham
  • Patent number: 4576744
Abstract: Certain polymers, notably hydroxyethyl and hydroxypropyl celluloses, hydroxypropyl guars, xanthan gums, and certain acrylic polymers, enhance the foam stability of liquid detergents based on dialkyl sulphosuccinates while simultaneously providing increased viscosity.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 20, 1984
Date of Patent: March 18, 1986
    Assignee: Lever Brothers Company
Inventors: Robert J. Edwards, Paul D. Hardman
