    Abstract: An aerosol propellant for sealing punctures in tires comprises a methylene chloride-in-water emulsion comprising water, methylene chloride, a curable acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) polymer latex and a surfactant, the emulsion having been blended with a fibrous plugging/matting agent, a carbon dioxide containing propellant or propellant blend in an amount sufficient to at least partially inflate a tire, and a corrosion inhibitor. The tire inflator/sealer provides an ozone friendly product.

    Abstract: An engine cleaner composition and method for removing carbonaceous deposits from engine fuel-system components such as mechanical and electronic fuel injectors, intake valve seats, valves, combustion cylinders, spark plugs, and oxygen sensors may be used on both gasoline and diesel engines. Preferred compositions comprise a synergistic solution of a heterocyclic ring compound in an azeotrope of acetonitrile and water, together with selected surfactants and aromatics. Preferred compositions of the invention may be placed in an aerosol pressurized unit utilizing a compressed gas, such as nitrogen or nitrous oxide, or compressed liquid gas, such as a hydrocarbon or fluorohydrocarbon. Preferred engine cleaning compositions of the invention are substantially non-ozone depleting, are low in global warming, and have a low order of human toxicity. Preferred compositions have a moderate pH and are essentially compatible with metals and elastomers conventionally used in engine fuel-system components.

    Abstract: A new tire sealant and inflator composition is described which utilizes a sealant having superior performance, presented in a water-based carrier, and with an inflator composition consisting of mainly dimethyl ether, modified by trichloroethylene and nitrogen gas. The composition comprises a terpolymeric latex sealant emulsion, prevented from coagulating or vulcanizing in the dispenser by the addition of additives, and made more potent by the inclusion of certain wood flours having selected particle size distributions. Other ingredients, such as propylene glycol, a surfactant, triethanolamine and ammonia, confer special attributes; for example, softening the wood flour particles and keeping them dispersed in the aerosol can, while causing them to pack down into a sealing matrix once added to a tire having a puncture.

    Abstract: A composition is disclosed which cleans baked-on, carbonized sludges and varnish deposits from the internal surfaces of automobile, motorcycle and truck engines. The product comprises a mutually synergistic solution of selected cyclic compounds, aliphatic amines and water, preferably dissolved in a hydrocarbon or hydrocarbon and aliphatic lower alcohol fuel base. The solution or base product may be placed in a pressure resistant (aerosol) dispenser, and pressurized. When injected into an engine over a period of time, significant removal of deposited contaminants occurs, resulting in smooth and efficient engine operation and lower levels of unburned hydrocarbon fuel, carbon monoxide, and other air pollutants.

    Abstract: Water-in-oil emulsions of improved stability are prepared by using an emulsifying composition comprising the combination of a finely divided montmorillonite mineral sufficiently modified with quaternary ammonium cations containing 10 or more carbon atoms, per cation, to render the mineral compatible with the oil, a polar organic dispersing agent for the mineral, and a partial ester of a fatty acid of 10 to 20 carbon atoms and a saturated, aliphatic, polyhydric alcohol having 3 to 18 hydroxyl groups, at least 2 of said hydroxyl groups being unesterified. In a preferred embodiment, useful, for example, in preparing an emulsion of an aqueous solution of aluminum chlorohydrate in cyclomethicone, the emulsifying composition is the combination of (a) a gelatinous dispersion of stearalkonium hectorite, with propylene carbonate dispersing agent, in isopropyl myristate, and (b) polyglyceryl-4 oleate.
