  • Patent number: 6807170
Abstract: A system and method for implementing user-to-user information transfer services over a communications network having switches, a voice network, and a signaling network. The invention establishes a connection path over both the voice network and the signaling network for connections requested by users to follow such that multiple connections may utilize the same connection paths. Each of switches have available a database for tracking and maintaining current connection information for connections with other switches.

  • Patent number: 6728223
Abstract: A pool of echo cancellers provides echo cancellation on PCM digital transmissions on an as needed basis. A dynamic port device operating under the direction of call processing identifies the transmissions requiring echo cancellation and routes the identified transmissions through echo cancellers. The echo cancellation can be performed on an as needed basis without having to dedicate an echo canceller to each DS0 channel. The dynamic port device can provide multiplexing up to SONET carrier levels immediately following selective echo cancellation.

  • Patent number: 5870460
Abstract: A system allocates data links between a switch and a database for data transactions in a telecommunications network. The data links between the switch and the database carry the transaction data for providing routing, card verification, address translation information, etc. by the database. The Flexible Link Selection Algorithm provides for accessing the data links using the round-robin method, wherein each data link is accessed sequentially to transport the data to and from the database. Alternatively, the Flexible Link Selection Algorithm provides for accessing the data links using dynamic allocation based on the least cost routing between the switch and the database. In the latter mode, the switch uses the least "expensive" database, i.e., database having the least cost routing between the switch and the database, until the volume of data transactions in the data links associated with that database exceeds a predetermined threshold level.

  • Patent number: 5835497
Abstract: A system broadcasts a call record via an interface in a telecommunications network having a plurality of network components and client platforms. A network component generates a call record following a particular call transaction over communications lines. A message including the call record is then broadcast by the network component via a high speed interface, such as a local area network. The message also includes a call record type indicator for identification of the type of the call record. After the message is received by a client platform connected to a processor, the call record type indicator is analyzed. Based on this analysis, the client platform either stores and subsequently processes the call record if required, or otherwise discards the call record.

  • Patent number: 5617422
Abstract: A telecommunications system comprises two groups of intelligent platforms in a common carrier's network. Each intelligent platform includes an application or a service for processing a call related transaction. The intelligent platforms in each group are arranged in the Local Area Network configuration, such as a Fiber Distributed Data Interface, to transfer the call related transaction to each other for further processing. Each group of the intelligent platforms comprises a node on the Wide Area Network, such as an Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM), which provides the high speed support for transferring the call related transaction among the intelligent platforms of each group. The combination of these two transport mechanisms will provide a high speed interface and sufficient bandwidth for the projected increase in traffic volume.
