  • Publication number: 20020198628
Abstract: The present invention provides a slot identification strategy for an optical cross-connect platform which facilitates replacement or repair of field replaceable units by a servicing technician. The slot identification strategy is comprised of three components: (a) functional group naming; (b) functional group numbering; and (c) functional group colour coding. Like components are placed together in functional groups and given alpha, numeric and colour labels to ensure minimal errors when identifying and removing a specified field replaceable unit in need of servicing. In an environment which cannot tolerate errors, the identification strategy integral to the present invention maximizes a human's ability to perceive colours and alpha-numeric labels, thereby allowing a technician to quickly and accurately locate a component on the cross-connect platform.

  • Patent number: 6336035
Abstract: Software tools for simulating the planning and operation of one or more cellsites within a wireless network utilize a database of cellsite information such as GPS, topographical, street map, architectural, RF propagation, and end user data. The tools retrieve and manipulate this data through a graphical user interface executed by a computing device. Using the graphical user interface, a user may simulate product information, drive tests, radio frequency propagation data, and user location profiles within a cell.

  • Patent number: 5004310
Abstract: Apparatus for scanning a remote object with a radiation detector and which prevents narcissus, ghost and stray radiation effects by providing radiation blocking means positioned to intercept all but the desired paths between a remote object and the detector.

  • Patent number: 4647729
Abstract: A circuit pattern on a circuit board, as used in telecommunications systems and other electrical apparatus, often has contact positions for switches, such as pushbutton switches, and for other purposes. The normal copper circuit pattern is covered at the contact positions to give improved contact conditions. Carbon ink has been proposed by obtaining the necessary high level of alignment of carbon ink with the copper pattern at contact positions is difficult as such contact positions have very close members. The invention proposes contact positions having closely spaced inter-digital contact members, in which the circuit pattern extends to and stops at the peripheral region of a contact position, the contact members being of carbon ink and overlapping conductors of the circuit pattern at the peripheral region.

  • Patent number: 4490604
Abstract: In an arrangement of two keyboards or other lamellar input/output devices for a computer or telecommunications terminal, one keyboard is integral with a cabinet of the terminal and the other keyboard normally fits within a housing in an undersurface of the cabinet and is masked by the integral keyboard. To enable withdrawal of the keyboard housed within the housing for use, a rear part of the cabinet undersurface is configured to allow the cabinet to be tilted bodily backwards to allow access to the keyboard. This is then pulled from under the integral keyboard and the cabinet is returned to its stable position. The keyboard housed within the housing is returned to its stored position in a converse manner.

  • Patent number: 3945606
Abstract: A gate valve particularly for controlling the flow of chemicals and corrosives includes a knife edge gate and means to assure parallelism between the gate and a stainless steel gate seat in the valve casing. A bonnet on the top of the casing has guides for the gate and allows full withdrawal of the gate from the flow line without the necessity for the gate passing through the gate stem packing. Leakage of the valve is substantially eliminated.
