  • Patent number: 5521943
Abstract: In a digital broadcasting transmitter network system operating on a DAB principle, in which: digital programs to be broadcast via individual transmitting stations after corresponding data reduction are coded and modulated in accordance with COFDM technique; data of digital sound and/or video programs is packed into a plurality of COFDM signal packets and transmitted via a transmitting station; and/or two or three 4 PSK-COFDM coders having their outputs combined via an adder stage are used for producing individual COFDM signal packets so that the data quantity to be transmitted can be increased. Feeding of increased data quantity may take place via digital satellite channels under a DSR principle at higher-order modulation.

  • Patent number: 5430492
Abstract: For transmitting digital HDTV signals, the HDTV signal, which is either fed with a data rate of .ltoreq.20.48 Mbit/s or which is data-reduced to such a data rate of .ltoreq.20.48 Mbit/s by means of a method utilizing the psycho-optical phenomena of the human eye, is split at the transmitter side of a broadband transmission link operating on the DSR method into two data streams of .ltoreq.10.24 Mbit/s each, and is fed to the I/Q interface of the 4PSK modulator of the DSR transmission link. These two data streams whch are transmitted to the I/Q output of the 4PSK demodulator of the DSR transmission link are then further processed thereat.

  • Patent number: 5333155
Abstract: For the purpose of transmitting digital audio signals from recording studios to the various broadcasting stations of a broadcasting network, the data flow of the digital audio signals to be transmitted is initially reduced in accordance with a technique which utilizes the psychoacoustic phenomena of the human ear. Then groups of these data-reduced digital audio signals are respectively encoded in a baseband in accordance with a DS1-technique and combined to form respective DS1/M-signals. Finally, the thus produced DS1/M-signals are transmitted in accordance with the DSR technique by use of a wide-band transmission system to the individual broadcasting stations of the broadcasting network.
