  • Patent number: 10046202
Abstract: A motorized exercise apparatus for use with a power source comprising an exercise apparatus having a power supply configured to be connected to the power source. An electronically commutated motor is configured to drive the exercise apparatus. A controller is configured to connect a power supply to the motor to selectively energize the motor to drive the exercise apparatus and including an emergency stop feature. The controller selectively actuates the motor and disables activation of the motor when the emergency stop feature is actuated. An additional motor driven by the apparatus is configured to cause a dynamic braking action to slow the apparatus when the power source is disabled or when the emergency feature is actuated.
