  • Patent number: 9008933
Abstract: A system includes a monitoring module, a congestion module, a modification module, and a communication module. The monitoring module monitors vehicles in a transportation network. The congestion module calculates a throughput parameter that is representative of a statistical measure of adherence to a movement plan by the vehicles. The modification module determines a confidence parameter representative of a probability that changing the original meet event does not reduce the throughput parameter. The modification module modifies the original meet event to an updated meet event when the confidence parameter exceeds a predetermined threshold. The communication module transmits the updated meet event to the yielding vehicle and/or the passing vehicle, for the yielding vehicle and/or the passing vehicle to receive the updated meet event from the communication module and change a speed of the yielding vehicle or the passing rail vehicle to arrive at the updated meet event.

  • Patent number: 8805605
Abstract: A system is provided that includes a control unit configured to be disposed on-board at least one of a first vehicle or a second vehicle. The control unit also is configured to receive an updated time of an event involving the first vehicle and the second vehicle traveling in a transportation network. The control unit also is configured to change a speed of said at least one of the first vehicle or the second vehicle in response to the updated time to arrive at the event. A method is provided that includes, at one of a first vehicle or a second vehicle, receiving an updated time of an event involving the first vehicle and the second vehicle in a transportation network. The method also includes changing a speed of said one of the first vehicle or the second vehicle in response to the updated tune to arrive at the event.

  • Publication number: 20110106498
Abstract: A detecting device for determining the status of an IEPE piezoelectric acceleration sensor is disclosed. The detecting device comprises a battery power supply management system, an IEPE sensor operating power supply management system, an IEPE operating status detection system, a microprocessor control system, a low battery LED indicator, a sensor operating status LED indicator, a universal meter/voltage meter interface, and a characteristic signal generating system. Therefore, a display system may be removed from the detecting system, thereby providing improved convenience for technicians tasked with sensor maintenance and also making the detecting device more portable.

  • Patent number: 6994459
Abstract: An optical unit for an aircraft warning light comprising an array of LEDs, the unit comprising a transparent plastics molded body having first and second opposing faces and being provided with optical means on its first and optionally also its second face to propagate fractions of light emitted from the LEDs in selected directions in accordance with a predetermined angular distribution. The optical means may, for example, take the form of discrete convex lenses, cylindrical aspherical lenses, prisms or total internal reflection structures and combinations thereof selected according to the emission requirements for the warning light. The optical unit will therefore differ depending on whether it is for use on a navigation light or an anti-collision light and will generally be spaced at a predetermined, fixed distance from the LED array.

  • Patent number: 6201172
Abstract: An improved and adjustable handle mounting mechanism for tremolo devices of stringed instruments and of the type having a string engaging saddle (22) floating in a centered position under opposing forces of the instrument's strings and a return spring (24)(FIGS. 1 and 8). The mechanism (10) comprises a plurality of rotatably interconnected parts which are held under compressive friction by a retaining screw (18), and includes a uniquely shaped washer (16) and uniquely configured attachment means (FIGS. 3 and 7), wherein the handle's support post (14) is separably attached to the saddle: the saddle has a convexly curved top surface (22a) and includes a slot (22c), and the undersurface (14d) of the post is concaved to mate it with the saddle (FIG. 7). An adjustment screw (20a) passes upward through the slot in the saddle and into a threaded hole (14c) in the post. An adjustment guide (20) can provide additional stability, but is not vital to the connection.
