Patent number: 12116141Abstract: An aircraft emergency power unit (EPU) includes a battery powered subsystem that replaces toxic hydrazine fuel use. The battery of the battery powered subsystem is utilized to supply power to an aircraft electrical system in the event of a failure of the EPU turbine-powered generator. The battery of the battery powered subsystem is also utilized to supply power to an electric hydraulic motor pump in the event of a failure of the EPU turbine-powered hydraulic pump (or to augment the output of the EPU-turbine-powered hydraulic pump). The battery of the battery powered subsystem is capable of simultaneously powering the electrical system and the electric hydraulic motor pump or of powering either one of the electrical system and electric hydraulic motor pump independently based upon aircraft fault conditions. Intermittent operation of the electrical system and/or the electric hydraulic motor pump in an intermittent fashion on an as-needed basis is also possible.Type: GrantFiled: December 8, 2021Date of Patent: October 15, 2024Assignee: EATON INTELLIGENT POWER LIMITEDInventors: Jeffrey A. Baker, Mario F. Cruz, David R. Smit, Derek Paul Dougherty

Publication number: 20240318646Abstract: Systems and methods for electronic pressure control of pumps in a dual pump system. The system may include a controller, a primary pump operated by the controller to maintain a system pressure in a flow path at a first pressure setpoint; a pressure transducer reading the system pressure and providing the system pressure to the controller; and a secondary pump operated by the controller to maintain the system pressure at a second pressure setpoint, the second pressure setpoint being less that the first pressure setpoint.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 22, 2024Publication date: September 26, 2024Inventors: Brady Powell Dearing, Stephen Marshall Devan, Kelly Dale Valtr, Joshua Boone Pepper, Derek Paul Dougherty, Douglas Alexander Scott, Joseph Spaniol

Patent number: 9927258Abstract: A system having a position sensing algorithm for determining a position of an electro-mechanical actuator (EMA) stroke includes a first rotary component supported for rotation about a first axis, and a second rotary component supported for rotation about a second axis. A first rotary encoder may be configured to generate an output based on an angular position of the first rotary component, and a second rotary encoder may be configured to generate an output based on an angular position of the second rotary component. The first and second rotary components may define a ratio such that the first and second rotary encoders generate unique combinations of outputs for an entire stroke of an EMA. A decoder may be provided having a position sensing algorithm that determines a position of the EMA stroke based on the ratio between first and second rotary components and outputs from first and second encoders.Type: GrantFiled: March 14, 2013Date of Patent: March 27, 2018Assignee: EATON CORPORATIONInventors: Derek Paul Dougherty, John Mendenhall White, Andrew Thompson

Publication number: 20140372433Abstract: Event driven information may be analyzed. A plurality of electronic documents may be received. The plurality of electronic documents may represent activity in a plurality of cases. A respective plurality of event identifiers for each case may be generated based on the plurality of electronic documents. For example, each of the respective plurality of event identifiers may be a respective ordered list. And, a visual representation of the activity in the plurality of cases may be generated. The visual representation may be based on an aggregation of the respective plurality of event identifiers. The visualization may include a directional network of connected nodes. For example, each node may represent a respective event identifier and each respective plurality of event identifiers may represent a path in the network.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 11, 2014Publication date: December 18, 2014Applicant: THE PATENT BOX, LLCInventor: Paul Dougherty

Publication number: 20110055852Abstract: Event processing for suspicious activity detection is disclosed. Financial events can be detected by receiving data from a plurality of detection channels. The data can optionally be enriched by adding additional details about events. An event or group of events is scored based on pre-defined risk factors and experience, and the resulting score can be compared to a pre-defined threshold. A case for investigation is established when the score is above the pre-defined threshold. Events for which the score is below the pre-defined threshold are sampled to provide the experience for the scoring. Events can be scored by obtaining a plurality of predictors, collecting training data regarding existing cases, and running a logistic regression to obtain weights for the predictors. The likelihood of a case for investigation resulting in a suspicious activity report can then be determined.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 31, 2009Publication date: March 3, 2011Applicant: BANK OF AMERICA CORPORATIONInventors: Christopher P. Smith, Subramanian Sulur, Paul Dougherty
