    Abstract: An electronics enclosure comprises a lid and a box made of conductive material, preferably mild steel. Improved electromagnetic interference shielding is provided by forming attenuation troughs in a semi-cylindrical form into both the lid and the box around the periphery of the enclosure. One of the troughs (the female) is formed slightly smaller than the other trough (male) to provide line or multiple point contact along the adjacent surfaces of the shapes. The line and/or multiple point contact between the troughs provides both conductance and capacitance.

    Abstract: An electronics enclosure system includes a conductive polymer which includes electromagnetic interference shielding properties and produced to enhancing SE, reducing material costs, and improving thermal flow. “Parallel” hex shaped EMI waveguides placed in a honeycomb pattern are stacked in a staggered fashion with similar hex shaped EMI waveguides placed in a honeycomb pattern. The parallel hex shaped EMI waveguides extend into the interior and/or “cuts” into one or more sides of a an electronics enclosure. An EMI shielding polymer material, such as a coated polymer, or a nickel-fiber carbon polymer such as Primere® providing sufficient EMI shielding (or alternately a material that can be formed such as Superplastic Zinc) is used, having the result that the need for shielding gaskets are reduced, material usage is decreased, and thermal flow is greatly improved.

    Abstract: The present invention includes several hard disk drive (HDD) enclosures that use pre-stressed polymer compression members to provide integral vibration shock and acoustic noise dampening and isolation. The vibration dampening system has springs of polymeric material located between outer surfaces and existing HDD FRU mounting walls. The suspension system secures the hard drive in a slot in the structure within the polymer springs, isolating the hard drive from the side panels and dampening the vibration internal and external. The minimal structure allows for significant air flow to provide the cooling Beams are designed to consider temperature effects, creep and long term fatigue of the plastics. Multiple beams will be recruited to support the drives and each other to ensure that no individual beam sustains a substantial portion of the load.

    Abstract: The invention eliminates recirculation or back draft associated cooling air flows in systems that use two or more cooling fans/blowers (or other possible cooling devices). The inventive device with accomplish this by mean of an “Iris-like” in-plane device. The solution described herein is to be passive in nature (although it could be made to respond to electronic or other signals/commands/control mechanisms) and will be capable of responding to a filed fan/blower and engage at the time of fan/blower failure simply by detecting the change of pressure associated with the failed cooling device. The inventive device will reduce the space required and the cost associated with back draft damping or recirculation. In addition, the device can be retrofitted to existing systems and can be designed to be an integral part of a finger guard (a safety feature) of a cooling fan.
