  • Patent number: 9174095
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for using a plurality of golf balls to train a person to swing a golf club are described. In accordance with one aspect of the present invention, the apparatus includes a ramp, a golf ball holder and a trigger, which may be mechanical or electrical. The ramp conveys the plurality of golf balls, one at a time, from a first end of the ramp to a second end of the ramp. At least a portion of the ramp is angled downward from the first end to the second end. The holder contains the plurality of golf balls. It is arranged near the first end of the ramp to release one of the plurality of golf balls at a time onto the ramp. The holder further has an input. The trigger is connected to the input of the holder and arranged so that it can sense the golf swing, wherein when the trigger senses the golf swing, it triggers the input of the holder to cause the holder to release one of the plurality of golf balls into the ramp.

  • Patent number: 8899384
Abstract: An electronic brake device for use with a wheel of a bicycle provides, among other features, wireless, remote disengagement of a wheel brake. A brake coupled to a housing is movable between an engaged position and a disengaged position. The housing includes a receiver configured to receive a command signal, and a processor operative to identify the received command signal. If the command signal is identified as a first command signal, the processor outputs a first control signal. An electric motor is operatively coupled to the brake to selectively move the brake from the engaged position in which the wheel of the bicycle is being braked to the disengaged position in which the wheel of the bicycle is free of any brake contact in response to the first control signal. Measured movement of the brakes between fully braked or fully disengaged positions are possible in the disclosed arrangement.

  • Publication number: 20140020544
Abstract: A stringed musical instrument employs springs to apply tension to corresponding musical strings. Each spring is chosen and configured for its ability to impart a string tension generally matched to the appropriate tension of the string at perfect tune. Preferably, the spring is selected and arranged so that the tension in the string maintains at or near perfect tune even as the string elongates or contracts over time. In one embodiment, once a string is placed in appropriate tune, a mechanical visual indicator is set. As such, if tune of the string changes due to string elongation or contraction, the change is reflected by misalignment of the mechanical visual indicator even if the change cannot be aurally detected. Perfect tune can be reestablished by realigning the indicator. In another embodiment, a force modulating member is interposed between a spring and its corresponding musical string.

  • Patent number: 8468635
Abstract: A surface treating device includes a member adapted for engaging a surface to be treated and a driver operatively associated with the member. The driver is adapted for imparting a linear reciprocating motion to the member, wherein the member engages the surface in a manner substantially perpendicular to the surface to be treated. The surface treating device further includes a dispenser for delivering a fluid drawn from a discrete fluid source to the surface being treated by the member.

  • Patent number: 8356927
Abstract: A universal mixer for mixing two or more components is provided. The mixer comprises two telescopically nested cylinders, the inner cylinder having a piston that stays in place due to hydraulic pressure inside the cylinders. The components to be mixed are inserted into a space formed by the outer cylinder, a cap and a gasket having one or more holes. The user forces the compounds through the holes by holding the handles of the mixer and pushing a back handle forward thereby causing the inner cylinder to move forward. The inner cylinder preferably has a diameter that narrows slightly from its back to front end. Further mixing is achieved by pulling the back handle backwards whereby the components are squeezed between the piston and the gasket and the components move through the holes in the gasket into the container formed by the outer cylinder.
