    Abstract: A “smart case” for a portable electronic device (e.g., smartphone, tablet, and the like) is provided that incorporates into the case an extendable camera that interacts with the electronic device to deliver still and/or moving images. The smart case is adapted to be mounted with respect to the portable electronic device and to facilitate communication between the camera and the processing unit associated with the electronic device. In an alternative embodiment, a subassembly is provided that is adapted to be mounted with respect to an electronic device and/or a case for an electronic device, the subassembly including an extendable camera to deliver still and/or moving images.

    Abstract: A light up centerpiece including a plurality of optical fibers, a plurality of non-light up strands and other decorative elements, a molded opening, a plurality of light emitting diodes, a base portion, and a power source. The optical fibers each have first and second ends. The light emitting diodes illuminate the optical fibers, so that the light emitted at the second end of the optical fibers creates an aesthetically decorative light effect. The fibers, strands and decorative elements are proportionately arranged and held in place through an opening in a molded base so that the light is distributed throughout the centerpiece.

    Abstract: Lighting units for use in a variety of enclosures/containers, such as Jack-O-Lanterns formed from hollowed-out pumpkin gourds, that define an interior region for receipt of a lighting unit, are provided. The enclosure/container and the lighting unit are combined to achieve a desired illumination effect, e.g., consistent with a holiday and/or seasonal theme. The lighting unit generally includes an elongate lighting element which can be placed in a number of different illumination modes, a hilt/handle to which the elongate lighting element is attached, and a control switch located on the handle for actuation by a user. A tip of the elongate lighting element is placed against the skin of the Jack-O-Lantern pumpkin, the tip being sized and shaped to permit itself and at least an adjacent part of the elongate lighting element to be pushed through the pumpkin flesh to depth of the hilt for internal illumination of the Jack-O-Lantern.
