  • Patent number: 6415495
Abstract: A container (10) for housing a waste receptacle (81, 82) includes a base member (11) formed by joining two identical base halves (20, 21). Two interchangeable side walls (12, 13) are attached to the base member (11) and include extensions (16, 17) which form the top (18) of the container (10). Interchangeable front and back walls (14, 15) are provided, the front wall (14) acting as a door and being hingedly attached to one of the side walls (12), and the back wall (15) being attached between the side walls (12, 13). If the waste receptacle is in the form of a plastic bag (82), it may be carried by frame (83) which is moveably mounted on tracks (41) carried by the side walls (12, 13). The container (10) may be manufactured simply by molding the identical parts and connecting them as described.

  • Patent number: 5230525
Abstract: A waste container (10) includes a base portion (11) having an open top to receive waste material therethrough and a cover (12) to close the open top. A pivotable pedal (22) is carried by the base portion (11) and has the lower end of a lifter bar (26) attached thereto. The top of the lifter bar (26) is bifurcated to form flexible tines (34) with a bearing member (35) therebetween. Pin members (36) extend outwardly from the tines (34) and are received in apertures (37) in a bracket (32) carried by the cover (12). The bracket (32) is also provided with ribs (38) to engage the bearing member (35) of the lifter bar (26). Fins (40) carried by the cover (12) also engage lugs (42) carried by the base portion (11).

  • Patent number: 5184836
Abstract: A quadrilateral refuse container (2) comprising a bottom (8) and four sidewalls (6) extending upwardly therefrom and terminating in an upper rim (64). The container further comprises a handle (52) extending outward from at least one side of the container, the handle having two parallel spaced apart sideplates (54), each sideplate having a lower edge profile for defining a downwardly concave recess (62). When one container is stacked inside a like-configured second container, the upper rim of the bottom container is nested within the handle sideplate recesses of the top container, and the sidewalls of the underlying container are held in a fixed vertical orientation. Recesses (49) are further provided within sidewalls (6) of the container, adapted to receive handle projections from a like configured second container, whereby the containers can be stored in a side by side abutment.
