  • Patent number: 4844283
Abstract: A closure mechanism (15) includes a pair of doors (25) biased in a closing direction and a cam (75) which symmetrically adjusts the position of the doors when drawn therethrough and asymmetrically adjusts the position of the doors when pivoted thereagainst.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 2, 1988
Date of Patent: July 4, 1989
    Assignee: Essex Group, Inc.
    Inventor: Paul E. Justus
  • Patent number: 4839205
Abstract: A wire sheave particularly adapted for magnet wire coating apparatus. The sheave has an outer radial structure with an outer surface containing a wire groove. The outer radial structure also contains a chamber suitable for containing a liquid or gas. The apparatus is used to preheat wire before it passes through the coating solution.

    Filed: July 27, 1987
Date of Patent: June 13, 1989
    Assignee: Essex Group, Inc.
Inventors: Paul E. Justus, Mahammad F. Zaman
  • Patent number: 4817841
Abstract: A threading bar and a process for using the threading bar with a wire coating apparatus having parallel transport cables is disclosed. The threading bar comprises a body portion suitable for attaching wires thereto, and a gripping mechanism which is used to selectively engage a portion of a transport cable so as to secure the body portion to the transport cable. Process steps include the use of such a threading bar to draw wire through a wire coating apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4752217
Abstract: A wire coating oven (2) is disclosed which includes a wire cooling apparatus (1) for cooling a wire (3) passing therethrough, while minimizing gaseous emissions. The cooling apparatus includes a wire cooling passage (10) having a wire entrance end (13) adjacent the oven and a wire exit end open to the atmosphere, with the wire cooling passage defined by a first wall (11) which surrounds the wire passing therethrough. A hot gas passage (15) is defined by a spacing between the first wall and a second wall (14) disposed adjacent thereto with hot gas entering the passage at about the wire exit end and exiting at the oven end. The first wall includes an outwardly tapered surface (19) near the wire entrance end for forming a venturi with the second wall, whereby a hot gas passing therebetween creates a negative pressure within the wire passage, drawing cool air (20) into the wire passage, cooling the wire and drawing any vaporous emissions into the oven.

  • Patent number: 4752214
Abstract: An oven wall straightener and a method for straightening an oven wall are disclosed. An angled beam (30) is mounted in such a way that rapid heat transfer from the oven wall (10) to the vertex (35) of the angled beam (30) causes the angled beam (30) to bow away from the oven wall (10). Beam straps (50) then pull the oven wall (10) toward the angled beam (30) restoring the oven wall (10) to a relatively straightened position.

  • Patent number: 4717604
Abstract: A die bar carrier (40) has a beam (42) to support the die bar (10) having wire (20) threaded therethrough, an attachment spring (60) to couple the beam (42) to a pulling mechanism (70), and a wire retainer (50) that is spaced from the beam (42) to hold the wire (20) between the beam (42) and the retainer (50).
