  • Patent number: 4874305
Abstract: An accumulator extrusion head assembly for producing a parison having at least one stripe extending longitudinally thereof comprises an extrusion head body member having an opening extending inwardly from a nozzle outlet end and a mandrel positioned in the body member to define a generally annular extrusion chamber terminating in an annular outlet nozzle. An annular ram is mounted in the extrusion chamber and has a forward end positioned for reciprocation toward and away from the outlet nozzle. A first supply extruder is connected to the body member through first passages for supplying a first extrusion material to the annular extrusion chamber. A second supply extruder is also connected to the body member through second passages for supplying a second extrusion material to the annular extrusion chamber.

  • Patent number: 4548569
Abstract: An injection molding apparatus includes a plasticizer (A) for plasticizing plastic pellets. An accumulator head (B) includes a plasticized material receiving entrance (40) for receiving the plasticized material. A mandrel (14) is disposed centrally within the outer body such that an annular cavity (12) is defined therebetween. A ram assembly (16) is mounted in the annular cavity for longitudinally reciprocating motion therein. Reciprocation of the ram assembly urges accumulated plasticized material through a downstream die (C). The ram assembly includes an outer ram member (30), an intermediate ram member (34), and an inner ram member (36). The ram members define a first passage array (60) between the intermediate and outer ram members and a second passage array (70) between the inner and intermediate ram members.

  • Patent number: 4058298
Abstract: Disclosed is a screw extruder having an upstream feed section in which the bore and screw is of substantially larger diameter than that in a downstream melting section. The two screws are structurally separable and may be operably independent of each other. The extruder is constructed for removal of the smaller screw outwardly through the downstream end of the extruder. Various arrangements for driving the two screws are disclosed herein.
