    Abstract: An embodiment is an emissions reduction system for exhaust gases. The emissions reduction system includes a reaction chamber with one or more parallel flow tubes. Each parallel flow tube includes a heating element to heat exhaust gases to oxidize PICs and other pollutants contained in and/or carried by the exhaust gases. The reaction chamber may also include an adjustable bypass for the exhaust gases to variably bypass the parallel flow tubes. The reaction chamber may further include an oxidizing agent injector to improve the oxidation of the PICs and other pollutants in the reaction chamber. The emissions reduction system of an embodiment may further include a catalyst bed in fluid communication with the reaction chamber to further reduce emissions.

    Abstract: A fireplace afterburner is presented including a shell having a first open shell end for receiving fireplace emissions and a second open shell end for expelling fireplace emissions, a flue inside said shell having a first flue end which can be closed, and a second flue end which is open, wherein when the first flue end is closed fireplace emissions flow around said flue, and wherein when said first flue end is open fireplace emission flow through said flue, a heating element connected to said shell and encircling said flue, wherein said heating element heats emissions that pass in proximity to the element, and a catalyst bed connected to said shell and encircling said flue. A method for reducing products of incomplete combustion in fireplace emissions is presented including receiving fireplace emissions into a shell, heating said fireplace emissions to at least 1501° F. (816° C.), reacting said fireplace emissions with a catalyst substrate, and releasing the results of said reaction from said shell.

    Abstract: An apparatus and method accomplishes the burning of biomass fuel materials with up to 80 percent efficiency. The inventive method and apparatus utilize a catalytic converter in communication with a combustion chamber to combust more completely combustion product gases to eliminate hydrocarbon pollutants and produce carbon dioxide gas. The catalytic converter is included within a passageway originating from and terminating in the combustion chamber so that the carbon dioxide gas is directed into the combustion chamber to control the rate of combustion therein. A heat exchanger in communication with the combustion chamber converts for use the heat carried by the carbon dioxide gas.
