  • Patent number: 6172475
Abstract: A movable barrier operator having improved safety and energy efficiency features automatically detects line voltage frequency and uses that information to set a worklight shut-off time. The operator automatically detects the type of door (single panel or segmented) and uses that information to set a maximum speed of door travel. The operator moves the door with a linearly variable speed from start of travel to stop for smooth and quiet performance. The operator provides for full door closure by driving the door into the floor when the DOWN limit is reached and no auto-reverse condition has been detected. The operator provides for user selection of a minimum stop speed for easy starting and stopping of sticky or binding doors.

  • Patent number: 6025785
Abstract: A barrier movement actuating receiver learns and responds to fixed code type access codes and rolling code type access code wherein the actuating receiver includes a programmer for programming the actuating receiver to accept fixed or rolling type access codes and includes a learning mode for enabling the programmer to add valid access codes to a memory. The receiver further includes a controller for identifying the type of access code received and a revised access code routine for learning both fixed codes and rolling codes. The controller can be set to execute the access code routine corresponding to the type of access code identified. After the first code is learned, all subsequent codes learned must be of the same type until the programmer is re-enabled.

  • Patent number: 5949349
Abstract: A barrier movement system which is useful in provided barrier movement in environments where a first barrier such as a community gate is commonly controlled by a plurality of different actuators (transmitters) which actuators separately control other barriers such as household garage doors. The controller of the commonly controlled gate receives and contemporaneously analyzes codes in accordance with a plurality of different code format standards and at the same time analyzes the received code to determine which format is actually being received. In an embodiment only a fixed code portion of a rolling code sequence is used for actuation at the commonly controlled barrier.

  • Patent number: 5872513
Abstract: A garage door opener system includes providing temporary access permission for some user or users while maintaining near permanent access permission for other users. The temporary access permission may be controlled by number of uses or a predetermined amount of time.
