  • Patent number: 4811639
Abstract: An attachment is disclosed for use with a power driven threading machine of the character having a tubular workpiece receiving spindle carrying jaw assemblies which engage and disengage a workpiece in the spindle. During a threading operation, the jaws engage a workpiece and thereafter rotate the workpiece and spindle in one direction about the spindle axis. When the jaws are displaced to release the workpiece, the jaws and spindle are rotated in the opposite direction about the spindle axis. The disclosed attachment is adapted to be received in the threading machine spindle in place of a workpiece to provide a driving coupling such as for an auxiliary tool assembly supported on the threading machine.

  • Patent number: 4735078
Abstract: A tube expanding tool is disclosed which is of the character comprising a body having a fixed handle and a pivotal handle by which tapered drift pin is displaced relative to radially expandable jaws mounted on the body. A rigid link member is pivotally connected between the drift pin and pivotal handle to displace the drift pin to expand the jaws and to provide positive withdrawal of the pin from the jaws following a tube expanding operation.

  • Patent number: 4008118
Abstract: In a butt fusion machine for fusing two sections of large diameter plastic pipe wherein said sections are clamped in axially aligned clamps one of which is fixed against linear movement and one is relatively linearly movable, a generally L-shaped frame is provided on which said clamps are mounted, part of the frame defining a reference plane. The clamps are mounted to open at an acute angle to the reference plane. The movable clamp is moved by a hydraulic system, which includes an accumulator. A carriage mounted on the upright portion of the frame for movement parallel to the axis of the clamps carries hingedly mounted on it a facer and a heater. Both the facer and the heater are mounted on an axis radially outboard of and substantially parallel to the axis of the clamps, and are so arranged as to be selectively swingable between a position intermediate the clamps and a position totally outboard of them.
