  • Patent number: 9538696
Abstract: A vehicle, a tool carriage assembly, and a system are disclosed. The vehicle includes drive wheels and a steering assembly which are responsive to control signal(s) to substantially correct a displacement error of the vehicle relative to an intended travel path. The tool carriage assembly includes a support section operatively mounted to a main body for relative movement. The support section is adapted to have mounted thereto a tool unit comprising a tool head. In response to a displacement error of the tool head relative to the intended travel path, the support section is responsive to one or more control signals to move relative to the main body to substantially correct the displacement error of the tool head. • Patent number: 9337695
Abstract: The present invention provides an improved single-layer coil for a rotating or linear electrical machine. The coil has a first endwinding that is substantially straight to a longitudinal axis of the coil and a second endwinding that is bent relative to the longitudinal axis of the coil. The coil therefore has differently shaped endwindings with one end 12 being ‘straight’ and the other end being ‘bent.

  • Publication number: 20150355076
Abstract: A fouling test probe includes a chamber containing a plurality of test wires secured to a replaceable test wire assembly. An actuator selectively opens and closes inlet and outlet windows to the chamber, a controller controls the actuator and independently controls an amount of electrical current to each test wire, and a voltage sensor measures the voltage across each test wire. The test probe is disposed into a process fluid, the chamber is opened allow process fluid to flow through the chamber, and the chamber is closed to capture a sample of the process fluid within the chamber. An amount of electrical power is independently controlled to the test wires while the chamber is closed, and an amount of foulant accumulation on the test wires is determined, using heat transfer measurement to determine a fouling factor.

  • Patent number: 9197106
Abstract: The present invention provides a permanent magnet rotor arrangement for a rotating electrical machine including a rotor body having an outer rim. A circumferential array of magnet carriers is mounted to the rotor body by fixing members and support members and is spaced apart from the rotor body in the radial direction to define a series of axially gaps or spaces which can optionally be used as passages for cooling air. At least one pole piece made of permanent magnet material is located adjacent to a surface of each magnet carrier. The magnet carriers and pole pieces preferably have a laminated or divided construction to virtually eliminate eddy currents that may be particularly problematic in certain types and construction of electrical machine. The flux path between adjacent pole pieces flows in the circumferential direction within the magnet carriers and does not use the rotor body.

  • Patent number: 9071106
Abstract: The present invention relates to armature windings for DC electrical machines, and in particular to those that use electronic commutation and have relatively few slots per pole-pair. The armature windings are particularly well suited for use with rotating DC electrical machines that have a large diameter and a large number of poles such as those that might be directly coupled to the turbine blade assembly of a wind turbine. The armature winding is arranged in relation to the magnetic field generated by a field winding or by permanent magnets such that a number of commutation events during the time taken for the relative movement between the armature and the field system of one pole-pair is much larger than the number of coils per pole-pair.

  • Patent number: 8604825
Abstract: This invention relates to Multiple Interlocked Cells (MICE) design as a hardening technique for CMOS logic gates consisting of two or more redundant nodes with node isolation components. This technique is used to modify existing standard CMOS logic gates or create new complex logic gates using common mask layers existing at ultra-deep sub-micron CMOS foundries. For single node upset immunity in logic or register, a primary cell and a redundant cell are used. For multi-node immunity, the primary cell is combined with two or more redundant nodes are used with physical layout spacing techniques which will insure that a single particle track cannot upset all three nodes simultaneously, and logic circuits built using this technique are immune to upsets in any environment. Circuits built using the MICE technique are also immune to single event transients without requiring the large time delays used in other hardening techniques.

  • Publication number: 20130284178
Abstract: A patient interface having a forehead support adjustably. The forehead support assembly includes a support arm that is adjustably mounted to the mask shell, thereby allowing the adjustment of the distance between the forehead support bracket and the mask shell in order to adjust for patients of different sizes. A forehead support bracket is pivotally connected to the support arm. The pivoting forehead support bracket is self-aligning to allow the forehead pad to remain parallel to the patient's forehead at all times, thus enhancing comfort and stability. The forehead support bracket is removable from the support arm, allowing the headgear (with support bracket attached) to be donned separately from the mask and support arm. The forehead support bracket in one embodiment has a forehead pad formed from the headgear itself.
