Patent number: 12172259Abstract: A straight edge guide system is presented that makes clamping of a workpiece faster and easier. The straight edge guide system includes a guide member that extends a length from a first end to a second end. A clamp member is connected to the first end of the guide member and includes a compressible bias member therein. An adjustable stop member is connected to the guide member that moves between a locked position and a free position. When the adjustable stop member is in the free position, the adjustable stop member slides along the length of the guide member. When the straight edge guide system is placed on top of a workpiece, the workpiece is clamped under spring bias force between the clamp member and the stop member.Type: GrantFiled: October 23, 2020Date of Patent: December 24, 2024Assignee: Kreg Enterprises, Inc.Inventors: Elliot Hoff, Paul Eilts, Christian Ewoldt, Kevin Choi, Stacy Peterson

Publication number: 20240207950Abstract: In one or more arrangements, a pocket hole jig system having a stationary upright is presented. In one or more arrangements, the pocket hole jig system has a base, an upright assembly having a guide, a clamping assembly having a handle portion and a workpiece support member, and a drill guide assembly. In one or more arrangements, the guide of the upright assembly provides a path of travel for the drill guide assembly downward and forward towards the workpiece support member at an angle and upward and away from the workpiece support member at an angle, and wherein the workpiece support member is configured to move in a path parallel to the generally planar work surface of the upper surface of the base. In one or more arrangements, the workpiece support member is configured to travel a fixed distance between a fully disengaged position to a fully clamped position.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 19, 2023Publication date: June 27, 2024Inventors: Mike Marusiak, Elliot Hoff, Andrew Lyons, Paul Eilts, Zachary Scheuffele, Kevin Choi, Scott Schaaf, Ethan Andersen, Nathan Hagarty, Jenna Clark, Caleb Dirks

Patent number: 11787078Abstract: A portable cross cut system is presented that includes a main body having a reference edge configured to be aligned against an edge of a workpiece and an engagement member configured to be laid on top of the workpiece. A first guide edge extends along an outward edge of the main body and the engagement member and is configured to guide an edge of a baseplate of a cutting tool during a cutting operation. The main body includes a blade offset member having an arm that moves between an extended position and a retracted position. When the arm is extended the outward end of the arm indicates the position of a cut line so that the user can easily align the position of the portable cross cut system to easily and accurately make cuts in a workpiece.Type: GrantFiled: October 26, 2020Date of Patent: October 17, 2023Assignee: Kreg Enterprises, Inc.Inventors: Paul Eilts, Elliot Hoff, Jens Pedersen, Stacy Peterson, Christian Ewoldt, Kevin Choi

Patent number: 11168965Abstract: A system for cutting narrow workpieces having a track that extends a width between a cutting edge and a non-cutting edge. One or more measuring bodies are connected to a slot adjacent the non-cutting edge that include a measuring bar that extends forward from the front side of the measuring body and under the track as well as extends rearward from the rear side of the measuring body. The measuring bar slides within the measuring body to accommodate the desired workpiece thickness. The measuring bar includes measuring indicia and a measuring member that facilitates measurement of workpiece thickness. Measuring body includes a locking member that locks the measuring bar at a desired thickness. Measuring member may be adjusted to calibrate the measuring member to the track and saw using a locking member. Measuring body also includes a support leg and associated locking mechanism that levels the measuring body.Type: GrantFiled: August 6, 2019Date of Patent: November 9, 2021Assignee: KREG ENTERPRISES, INC.Inventors: Shelby Strempke, Paul Eilts

Publication number: 20210283797Abstract: A system for cutting wide workpieces is presented having a track that extends a length between opposing ends and extends a width between a cutting edge and a non-cutting edge. One or more measuring bodies are connected to track and include a flexible measuring tape that extends outward from the rear side of the measuring body. The measuring bodies include a locking member that includes an arm connected to a rotating axle having a cam surface that pushes down upon a brake shoe that includes pads formed of a material having a high coefficient of friction that securely holds the measuring tape between the brake shoe on one side and a cradle on the other side. In this way, a system is presented that facilitates quick, easy and repeatable cuts on wide workpieces.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 2, 2021Publication date: September 16, 2021Inventors: Shelby Strempke, Paul Eilts
