Patent number: 11982563Abstract: An apparatus powered by batteries may include a first processor and a second processor. The first processor may consume more electrical power than the second processor. The second processor acquires data from one or more sensors. At a predetermined time or other trigger, the second processor activates the first processor that is then used to send the acquired data to an external device. For example, items are stowed on the apparatus that includes weight sensors. The second processor awakens hourly, acquires weight data indicative of the weight of items stowed on the apparatus, and returns to a sleep mode. After 24 hours of acquiring weight data, the second processor activates the first processor to send the accumulated weight data to an external device, such as a server, using a network interface. Power consumption is substantially reduced, allowing the apparatus to operate without external power for extended periods of times.Type: GrantFiled: September 28, 2020Date of Patent: May 14, 2024Assignee: AMAZON TECHNOLOGIES, INC.Inventors: Andrew William Staats, Charles Robert Watson, David Buuck, Dave Jonathan Lefkow, Paul Ellis

Publication number: 20240084475Abstract: Apparatuses and methods for creating phobic and philic surfaces (for example, superphobic and superphilic surfaces) are disclosed. Embodiments include methods for determining a heat treatment technique that increases the likelihood that a uniformly etched surface with minimal pitting will be formed when the surface of a material is subject to etching. Additional embodiments include evaluating the PRE number of the material, performing an anodic polarization sweep of the material, evaluating the polarization curve (current vs. potential) for the material, performing different etching protocols depending on the range of values the PRE number of the material belongs, and/or pulsing the current applied to the material during the etching process. Additional embodiments include apparatuses and methods for predictably etching a surface (such as a surface of a metal alloy) of a material, which can include etching interior portions of a hollow work piece.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 12, 2023Publication date: March 14, 2024Inventors: Timothee L. Patent number: 11925790Abstract: Processes and devices provide parenteral delivery of therapeutic fluids, in particular high-viscosity therapeutic fluids (e.g., protein therapeutics), by a chemical reaction that generates a gas. A device may include a first actuation chamber containing a first reagent, a second reaction chamber containing a second reagent, and a third therapeutic fluid chamber containing the therapeutic fluid. In a loaded configuration, a plunger separates the first chamber from the second chamber. In a delivery configuration, the plunger allows the first reagent from the first chamber to communicate and react with the second reagent from the second chamber. The generated gas acts upon a plunger to deliver the therapeutic fluid from the third chamber.Type: GrantFiled: February 9, 2018Date of Patent: March 12, 2024Assignee: Eli Lilly and CompanyInventors: William Godwin Atterbury, Corrie Jo Bennison, Robert Jonathan Cain, Michael Funk Chiappetta, Jeffrey Leclair Ellis, David Arthur Holley, Mark Lafever, Beverly Ann Piatt, John Paul Tallarico

Patent number: 11599944Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed that provide real-time pre-trade risk assessments for multiple parties. In one embodiment, a Programmable Logic Device (PLD) may be embedded within an Automated Trading Systems (ATS) architecture by utilizing the Intel socket G or the PCIe interface to provide pre-trade risk functionality. The system may also provide a method for interacting with the ATS DRAM or L1 cache to provide faster access to orders in ATS memory for PLDs. The system may use the Quick Path Interconnect between an embedded processor and a PLD to transfer memory maps. The system may also add additional libraries to an ATS processor to accelerate the transfer or memory maps to a PLD. The system also may use system interrupts to cancel erroneous orders within an ATS processor from a PLD housed within the same physical architecture.Type: GrantFiled: September 13, 2021Date of Patent: March 7, 2023Assignee: FIXNETIX LIMITEDInventors: Marcus Perrett, Paul Ellis, Hugh Hughes

Patent number: 11393032Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed that provide real-time pre-trade risk assessments for multiple parties. In one embodiment, systems and methods can be configured to receive a market order data packet, wherein the market order data packet comprises order information for a market order to be made at a liquidity venue. The market order data packet comprises a header portion and a payload portion, and the header portion comprises at least a portion of the order information. An order symbol is determined based on order symbol information in the header portion. Risk parameters are retrieved associated with the order symbol. It is determined whether or not a risk threshold is exceeded based on the risk parameters and the order information. A final market order data packet is generated for transmission to the liquidity venue based on the determining whether the risk threshold is exceeded.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 2020Date of Patent: July 19, 2022Assignee: FIXNETIX LIMITEDInventors: Marcus Perrett, Paul Ellis, Hugh Hughes

Publication number: 20220038476Abstract: Disclosed embodiments provide systems, methods, and computer-readable storage media for secure data communication between two devices. A disclosed system responds to a request from an originating communication device in a first network to connect with a communication device in a second network, for communication, by receiving a request from the communication device in the first network, the request including payload data and a destination network address in the second network. The system then transmits the received payload data to the destination address in the second network after analyzing the payload data for network intrusion. When the analysis does not indicate network intrusion, the system determines a route to the destination network address by looking up the destination address in a routing table and forwarding the payload data to the destination network address in the second network. If the analysis indicates network intrusion, the system discards the payload data.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 20, 2021Publication date: February 3, 2022Applicant: Capital One Services, LLCInventor: Paul Ellis MAYES
