  • Patent number: 4637503
Abstract: A control device to remotely engage and disengage a clutch having a manually-operable lever, consisting of a link pivoted to the lever and to a sector plate. The latter is pivotally mounted on a base and is adapted for movement with a swing arm mounted on the same pivot and extending radially of the sector plate. The swing arm carries a slidable dog releasably engaged with the sector plate and is moved by a power-operated lifter. The sector plate is connected to the link and is adapted to move between a first declutched position, and a second clutched position, and a final operative position intermediate the two first-named positions, nearer the second position, thereby preventing undue stress on the bearings of the clutch actuation assembly when the clutch is operative.

  • Patent number: 4477988
Abstract: A snow blower operatively carried at the end of a carrier vehicle and characterized by its construction to minimize maintenance and downtime at least of the snow blower as a whole. This snow blower is of modular construction, allowing to readily separate a front snow-blowing module from a rear motor module to readily repair the front and rear modules. This also facilitates construction of the rear module with different kinds of engines and adapt these different rear motor modules to the standard front module. The snow blower also includes a drive train conveniently including a frangible coupling, for safety, with that coupling exteriorly extending for readily replacement of the shearable safety bolts in it and for corresponding convenient maintenance.

  • Patent number: 4188738
Abstract: A snow thrower machine and in particular an associated endless screw propeller unit which is adapted to strike or bite an encountered layer or crust of ice to break it into pieces of blowable sizes. This endless screw propeller unit includes an helicoidal blade wound around a transverse axis and having a limited number of teeth circumferentially spaced along the outer edge of the blade. The latter has outer edge portions radially diminishing toward and up to the teeth respectively, and leading the latter relative to the direction of rotation of the propeller blade whereby the leading edge of each tooth is adapted to strike and bite the ice to break it into pieces. The teeth do not protrude from the outer peripheral edge and from the leading face of the blade so as not to damage road pavement and not to impede the axial flow of snow and ice pieces towards the impeller of the machine.

  • Patent number: 4184274
Abstract: An ejection tube assembly for a snowblower, wherein the assembly comprises a bottom tube section and an upper tube section which are telescopically extendible and retractable one in the other to form an ejection tube of sufficient height to load the present-day trucks and of reducible height to enter in a conventional garage. This ejection tube assembly includes a support, the ejection tube extending endwise upright on this support, a slender casing upwardly extending lengthwise, having an open bottom, and laterally fixed to the upper tube section for displacement therewith, a hydraulic cylinder engaged in the slender casing and fixed at the lower end to the support and guide rods fixed to the slender casing, longitudinally extending lengthwise thereof, and slidable in guiding sleeves fixed to the support.
