  • Patent number: 5087327
Abstract: A composite yarn for use in a papermaker's fabric, for the press section of a papermaking or similar machine, is disclosed. The composite yarn includes a core substantially surrounded by a layer of monofilament. The core is at least partially soluble. On the other hand, the monofilament layer is non-soluble and is either braided, knitted, or helically wound around the core. After the base fabric, woven from the composite yarns, has been needled, the soluble portion of the core is washed out, supplying an increase in void volume to the finished fabric.

  • Patent number: 5079807
Abstract: This disclosure shows a novel shaped pintle wire for papermachine clothing. The intended use of the pintle wire is to close a pin seam by joining the loops formed by the machine-direction yarns at each end of an open-ended papermachine fabric. The present pintle has a non-circular cross section with a major dimension and a minor dimension. The major dimension stretches the loops and reduces seam gap. The minor dimension is approximately equal to the thickness of the fabric under load. Both serve to reduce the marking of the paper sheet by the seam region.

  • Patent number: 4979543
Abstract: A dress fabric comprising a plurality of layers of machine direction and cross-machine direction yarns, respectively, the yarns for each layer oriented in parallel with respect to each other and perpendicular with respect to the yarns of immediately adjacent layers, the yarns of one layer not binding the yarns of adjacent layers, and separate binder yarns for binding said layers. The fabric defines two machine direction oriented edges and two cross-machine direction oriented edges, whereby at each cross-machine direction oriented edge certain machine direction yarns extend from one layer a distance sufficient to form a loop and then return to the same cross-machine direction oriented edge into another layer of machine direction yarns.

  • Patent number: 4711702
Abstract: Antistatic cartons of containerboard having 0.3 to 3.5 percent by weight conductive carbon for protecting electrostatic discharge sensitive devices. The containerboard is made from an alkaline pulp which eliminates acid contamination, increases shelf life, provides Mullen burst strength in the linerboard which exceeds 90(.+-.1) pounds per square inch. The surface resistivity is in the range of from 10.sup.3 to 10.sup.9 ohms per square. The carton includes conductive adhesives to insure dissipation of any static charges.

  • Patent number: 4559205
Abstract: There is disclosed a catalytic converter substrate of curved cross-sectional profile comprising a stack of modules individually formed of folded metal foil having contacting layers defining passages therebetween. The modules have a uniform thickness but various widths so as to conform the stack to the desired profile but with the combined thickness of the modules being made oversize such that the contacting layers are frictionally held together against relative sliding when the modules are compressively loaded by a retainer to completely conform to the desired profile.

  • Patent number: 4465227
Abstract: A corrugated paperboard carton formed from a one-piece blank, which carton is leak-proof and can be assembled completely by machine. The carton is particularly adapted for containing a bulk supply of frozen eggs. The carton is erected, filled, and closed completely by machine.
