  • Publication number: 20210213201
Abstract: An apparatus includes a housing, an energy storage member, a carrier, a medicament container, and a delivery control mechanism. The housing defines a gas chamber configured to receive pressurized gas from the energy storage member to pressurize the gas chamber. The carrier has a proximal surface that defines a portion of the gas chamber. The medicament container is coupled to the carrier and has a distal end portion coupled to a delivery member. The medicament container contains a medicament and includes an elastomeric member that seals the medicament within the medicament container. The delivery control mechanism is coupled to a proximal end portion of the medicament container and includes a flow restriction member for regulating a pressure supplied by the gas chamber and entering into the medicament container that acts on the elastomeric member.

  • Publication number: 20210093786
Abstract: A method of delivering epinephrine includes placing a distal end surface of a medical injector into contact with a target location of a patient. The medical injector includes a housing, an energy storage member, and a medicament container containing a dose of epinephrine effective for administration to the patient experiencing anaphylaxis and having a weight of less than 15 kg. The medicament container is coupled to a needle. The medical injector is actuated such that the energy storage member produces a force to move the needle from a first needle position to a second needle position. A distal tip of the needle extends from the distal end surface by a distance of between 7 millimeters and 8 millimeters when the needle is in the second needle position. A portion of the force is exerted to expel the dose of epinephrine when the needle is in the second position.

  • Patent number: 10937537
Abstract: A computer-implemented method includes establishing a communications link, via a short-range wireless protocol, between a mobile computing device and a medicament delivery device. A user input selecting a motion profile of the medicament delivery device is then received in response to an input prompt. A wireless signal is received from the medicament delivery device, the wireless signal associated with an actual motion profile of the medicament delivery device. A notification is produced to indicate a motion difference between the actual motion profile and the target motion profile. In some embodiments, the method optionally includes modifying the target motion profile based on the motion profile over a time period of at least one week, the notification indicating a motion difference between the motion profile and the modified target motion profile.

  • Patent number: 10839669
Abstract: In some embodiments, a method includes producing, from an adapter, a first wireless signal characterized by a first communication mode with a computing device when a portion of at least one of a medicament delivery device or a simulated medicament delivery is disposed within the adapter. An indication is received when the portion of the medicament delivery device or the simulated medicament delivery device is removed from the adapter. A second wireless signal characterized by a second communication mode with the computing device is produced in response to the indication. The second communication mode is different from the first communication mode. The second communication mode can be, for example, a hold mode, a sniff mode or a park mode.

  • Publication number: 20200316299
Abstract: An apparatus includes a housing, an actuator, a lock mechanism, and a medicament container. The lock mechanism selectively engages a portion of the housing such that (1) the lock mechanism is maintained in a substantially fixed position when the housing is in a first orientation and (2) the lock mechanism is removable from the housing when the housing is in a second orientation. The medicament container is moved in a proximal direction when the lock mechanism is removed from the housing to mix a first medicament portion contained within the medicament container with a second medicament portion contained within the medicament container. The actuator can be moved from a first position to a second position when the lock mechanism is removed from the housing to release energy stored within an energy storage member such that the medicament container is moved in a distal direction.

  • Patent number: 10737028
Abstract: A method includes moving an actuation lock of a medical injector from a first position to a second position. The actuation lock has an extended portion disposed between a shoulder of a housing and the base when the actuation lock is in the first position. The extended portion is spaced apart from the base when the actuation lock is in the second position. A distal end portion of a base, which is movably coupled to an end portion of the housing, is placed into contact with a body. The base is actuated after the placing to release an energy from an energy storage member within the housing to produce a force to move a needle from a first needle position to a second needle position. At least a portion of the needle extends through the base when the needle is in the second needle position.

  • Publication number: 20200197612
Abstract: An apparatus includes a housing, a carrier, and an expandable assembly. The housing defines an opening configured to selectively place a gas chamber of the housing in fluid communication with an exterior volume. The carrier is movably disposed within the housing and is coupled to a medicament container. A proximal surface of the carrier defines a portion of a boundary of the gas chamber. The expandable assembly has a first member and a second member. The first member is coupled to an elastomeric member disposed within the medicament container, and the second member includes a valve portion. The expandable assembly transitions from a collapsed configuration to an expanded configuration when the elastomeric member moves within the medicament container. The valve portion moves relative to the opening when the expandable assembly transitions from the first to the second configuration, placing the gas chamber in fluid communication with the exterior volume.
