  • Patent number: 4266321
Abstract: A hinge and hold-open assembly is disclosed having a pair of hinge straps and an integral hold-open spring and pivot pin member. The spring and pin member has a pivot pin portion pivotally connecting the hinge straps and a spring portion which is operatively engaged by a cam on one of the hinge straps so as to be normally relaxed in a closed hinge condition. Then on relative pivotal movement between the hinge straps, the spring portion is radially flexed and then relatively abruptly partially unflexed to yieldingly establish and hold an open hinge condition and with less effort required to establish the hold-open condition than is required to release same.

  • Patent number: 4186524
Abstract: A vehicle power window actuator for pivoting a glass view panel about an axis by means of back-and-forth linear movement of a wire cable. The wire cable has a jack screw portion swaged to one end engaging a gear which is rotated by an electric motor to produce linear movement of the cable. The other end of the wire cable is swage-attached to a rigid curved rod terminating in a ball-shaped end portion. The curved rod is housed in an arcuate hollow support assembly which is attached to the vehicle body adjacent the movable edge portion of the window panel so as to direct the end portion of the curved rod against the panel. A connector assembly between the end portion of the curved rod and the window accommodates linear movement of the ball-shaped portion in a direction parallel with the plane of the glass as the window pivots outward. In addition, the end portion moves with and rotates with respect to the glass.

  • Patent number: 4134051
Abstract: A controlled bi-directional motor is energized through a power switching arrangement of the type electrically operable in a manner to energize the motor for rotation in one direction and in another manner to energize the motor for rotation in the opposite direction. Circuitry including a single pole-single throw electrical switching device is responsive to the operation of the switching device electrically open to operate the power switching arrangment in the manner to energize the motor for rotation in a first direction and other circuitry also including the electrical switching device is responsive to the operation of the electrical switching device electrically closed to operate the power switching arrangment in the manner to energize the motor for rotation in the opposite direction.

  • Patent number: 4041301
Abstract: A key cylinder illuminating device for a lift bar door handle assembly which overlies a recess in the outer panel of a vehicle door. A lift bar is pivotally mounted for movement between a first position overlying the recess and a second position away from the recess wherein a door latch is operated to unlatched position. The door latch also has a lock which prevents the door latch from being operated to the unlatched position even though the lift bar is lifted. A key cylinder is located on the door panel generally beneath the lift bar door handle assembly and receives a key by which the door latch can be unlocked. A light source is mounted on the vehicle door panel within the recess so that it is concealed from view and protected from damage by the lift bar when the lift bar is in its normal first position. A switch is provided on the lift bar door handle assembly and is closed when the lift bar is pivoted to the second position so that an electrical circuit is completed to energize the light source.
