Patent number: 8763519Abstract: A food cooking grill assembly has a housing that supports a lower platen which has a cooking surface, and an upper platen having a cooking surface. A handle assembly connects to the upper platen. Handle assembly connects to a guidance assembly and to a hinged and pivotal counterbalance assembly to control the orientation and position of the upper platen relative to the lower platen. The counterbalance assembly interacts between the upper platen and the housing to counter the weight of the upper platen and to react to force exerted through the handle assembly.Type: GrantFiled: December 2, 2009Date of Patent: July 1, 2014Assignee: Star Manufacturing International, Inc.Inventors: Frank Ricchio, Douglas Vogt, Phil Ranft, Kenneth Schaller, Thomas Hooss, Paul Farrell, Dale L. Patent number: 7681966Abstract: A process including selecting an ink having a viscosity that varies continuously over a range of transfuse process temperatures; forming an image on a preliminary receiving surface or on a final receiving substrate with the selected ink; providing a final receiving substrate at a selected temperature optionally comprising modifying the temperature of the final receiving substrate to achieve a selected temperature; optionally passing the final receiving substrate through a nip; optionally exerting pressure on the final receiving substrate in the nip to transfer the ink image from the preliminary receiving surface to the final receiving substrate; optionally fusing the ink image onto the final receiving substrate at a transfuse temperature; and controlling the viscosity of the ink during printing to match a selected characteristic of the final receiving substrate; and preserving the ink image.Type: GrantFiled: March 9, 2006Date of Patent: March 23, 2010Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: Leonard A. Patent number: 7617313Abstract: Systems and methods for collecting metrics from monitored systems are provided. Collected metrics may be further used for modeling system performance. Collected metrics may be analyzed to identify correlations between metrics, which may then be a basis for system modeling. One or more alarm thresholds may be set based upon system models. If the monitoring of a system indicates that an alarm threshold has been passed, the appropriate alarm may be issued. Alarm levels may vary for different alarm thresholds.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 2004Date of Patent: November 10, 2009Assignee: Sprint Communications Company L.P.Inventors: Brian John Washburn, Brian Paul Farrell

Patent number: 7509343Abstract: The present invention provides a method of collecting system performance metrics from a plurality of monitored systems and reporting system performance metrics to a requesting client system. In accordance with the present invention, the system performance metrics are collected to a database so that requesting client systems requiring the metrics need not have access to each monitored system. The monitored systems may limit user access and maintain system security while still providing the metrics required to address system availability and load problems.Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 2004Date of Patent: March 24, 2009Assignee: Sprint Communications Company L.P.Inventors: Brian John Washburn, Brian Paul Farrell, Margaret M. Mcmahon

Patent number: 7369967Abstract: The present invention provides a method for modeling the performance of a system comprising computer software operating on computer hardware. In accordance with the present invention, system performance is modeled by fitting non-linear curves to data points for system performance parameters, such as response time and throughput, as a function of load. Data points may be measured in testing may be measured through monitoring a system operating in a production environment. While a variety of non-linear curves may be used in accordance with the present invention, a logarithmic curve may be used to model system throughput and an exponential curve may be used to model system response time. By defining a relationship between throughput and response time a distance may be calculated between the curves, and this distance may be used to determine an optimal load.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 2004Date of Patent: May 6, 2008Assignee: Sprint Communications Company L.P.Inventors: Brian John Washburn, Brian Paul Farrell, Bryan Greenberg, John Mccarty, Mike S. Patent number: 6970918Abstract: A method and system using for establishing an intermediary connection between a client device and a secure website using a web proxy machine. In the preferred embodiment, a secure connection is established between the web proxy and the secure content server. A response from the content server, typically in HTML format, is sent to the proxy machine through a secure connection. The proxy machine is then able to manipulate the secure response from the secure server, in ways such as transcoding the response to a format readable by the user device, storing sensitive financial data in cookies in the proxy machine, and to return a response from the content provider to the client device with or preferably without cookies.Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 2001Date of Patent: November 29, 2005Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Frances C. Brown, Susan Crayne, Samuel R. Detweiler, Peter Gustav Fairweather, Stephen Paul Farrell, Vicki Lynne Hanson, Richard Scott Schwerdtfeger, Beth Rush Tibbitts

Publication number: 20050227918Abstract: The invention relates to methods for determining a subject's susceptibility to cytotoxic drug therapy, by determining what polymorphic form of p53 the subject expresses. Also, a part of the invention are methods for identifying susceptible subjects, by assaying for mutated forms of p53. Therapeutic approaches based on this are also contemplated.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 7, 2004Publication date: October 13, 2005Inventors: Paul Farrell, Xin Lu, Tim Crook

Patent number: 3968377Abstract: In a neutron generator of the type in which a tritium-titanium target is bombarded by a deuterium ion beam, the target half-life is increased by separating the beam with a weak magnetic field to provide three separate beams of atomic, diatomic and triatomic deuterium ions which all strike the target at different adjacent locations. Beam separation in this manner eliminates the problem of one type ion impairing the neutron generating efficiency of other type ions, thereby effecting more efficient utilization of the target material.Type: GrantFiled: August 14, 1974Date of Patent: July 6, 1976Assignee: Radiation Dynamics, Inc.Inventor: Joseph Paul Farrell
