  • Publication number: 20230328334
Abstract: Described is a method of media content delivery, where measurements of network delivery rates are used to determine at which bit rate to request each content segment. The aim is to ensure continuous play-out of good quality segments, without relying on a large buffer, so that end-to-end delay is kept low. The historical network delivery rate is measured on two or more timescales, such as a short-term delivery rate and a long-term delivery rate, and these are used to decide when to request a higher bit rate segment than the previous segment, and when to request a lower bit rate segment than the previous segment.

  • Publication number: 20230121792
Abstract: The invention provides a method of media content delivery, where the time taken to deliver each chunk of content is measured, from which the stability or consistency of delivery times are calculated. The amount of data buffered at the user's device awaiting decoding and play-back can then be adjusted (such as by playing out the content slower or quicker), in order to achieve a good compromise between continuous play-out and low end-to-end delay, taking into consideration the current network characteristics.

  • Publication number: 20120026029
Abstract: A motion detection system and method with null points with a motion detection method including transmitting a signal (102); detecting the signal at a first device (104); determining whether signal strength of the detected signal is less than an expected signal strength (106); transmitting at least one additional signal (108); detecting the at least one additional signal at the first device (110); determining whether signal strength of the detected at least one additional signal is less than the expected signal strength (112); and determining that the first device is in a null point when the signal strength of the detected signals is less than the expected signal strength for a predetermined number of the detected signals (114).

  • Patent number: 5352276
Abstract: A portable modular water air stripper system for remediation of contaminated water, such as groundwater at an outdoor contamination site, has its primary components, including the frames of a vertical assembly of individually demountable tray units, a sump and cap member, formed as hollow rotationally molded plastic pieces. Each tray unit has an air-porous sheet member having air-flow apertures with a diameter of 0.100 inches or less constructed to retain water during stripping action by air passing upwardly through the apertures. Each sheet member is removable from a respective tray frame and has mounted thereon a baffle that defines a tortuous water flow path across each tray. In one embodiment, the baffles extend between and are substantially sealed to the undersurface of the next higher tray.
