  • Patent number: 8879691
Abstract: A system, method, and computer readable medium for a metallic test method in a digital subscriber line system in which a subscriber's voice service has been switched from plain old telephony service to an inband digital subscriber line data stream characterized in that a direct current loop current used for plain old telephony service is replicated for testing, comprising, providing a sealing line current to a transmission line via a digital subscriber line device serving the subscriber and supervising the provided sealing line current between the digital subscriber line device and a subscriber's premises for determining a connectivity therebetween.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 22, 2005
Date of Patent: November 4, 2014
    Assignee: Alcatel Lucent
Inventors: Franciscus Maria Ploumen, Paul Franceschini
  • Patent number: 7991123
Abstract: A system for causing application of sealing current to one or more local telephony loops has a current source; a switching interface for connecting the current source to the one or more telephony loop interfaces; and a machine-readable instruction accessible to the switching interface, the instruction providing intelligence to the switching interface for identifying the one or more loops to be serviced, the time period for current application to each loop serviced, and a sequence order when more than one loop is serviced.

  • Patent number: 7154884
Abstract: A scalable multi-service node system uses a stackplane architecture which allows the transport capacity to be flexibly expanded while providing first traffic mode and second traffic mode link channels. The primary channel bank is provided, and one or more secondary channel banks are connected to the primary channel bank through the stackplane first traffic mode and second traffic mode links. The system is expandable by adding secondary channel banks to the system through the stackplane links.

  • Patent number: 7050428
Abstract: A scalable digital loop carrier system uses a stackplane architecture which allows the transport capacity of the scalable digital loop carrier system to be flexibly expanded while providing time division multiplex (TDM) and asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) data link channels. The primary channel bank is provided in the scalable digital loop carrier system, and one or more secondary channel banks are connected to the primary channel bank through the stackplane ATM and TDM data links. The scalable digital loop carrier system is expandable by adding secondary channel banks to the system through the stackplane TDM and ATM data links.

  • Patent number: 6721336
Abstract: STS-n with enhanced granularity is achieved by using an ATM cell framer which includes a plurality of cell delineators and cell assemblers for conversions between broadband STS-n which occupies at least a portion of a bandwidth of a synchronous payload envelope (SPE), such as a synchronous optical network (SONET) bandwidth, and asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) cells. The SONET bandwidth is flexibly and efficiently allocated for transporting the broadband STS-n which carries ATM data, wherein n can be varied in small increments to allow the SONET bandwidth to be shared with narrowband STS if the broadband STS-n does not occupy the entire SONET bandwidth.

  • Patent number: 6621830
Abstract: A variable rate subscriber bus is adaptable to carry communications traffic in the forms of DS0, T1 or DS1 formats between a channel bank and a channel card at any one of a plurality of predetermined data rates. The data rate for the variable rate subscriber bus is selected according to the type and capacity of the channel card. The variable rate subscriber bus is capable of supporting high data rate traffic for high density channel cards while maintaining compatibility with conventional low density channel cards.
