Abstract: In a general aspect, a system can include a reactor for combusting fuel and producing high-temperature, high-pressure liquid as a byproduct, and at least one vessel defining a cavity to be partially filled with water, with an air pocket within the cavity above the water. The system can further include respective valves to control admission of liquid from the reactor into the air pocket when the air pocket has a pressure lower than an operating pressure of the reactor, and to control emission of the water from the at least one vessel through of the vessel after the water in the at least one vessel has been pressurized by the liquid from the reactor. The system can also include a hydroelectric drive system for receiving water emitted from the cavity, and for converting energy in the received water into electrical energy.

The base section [2] comprises ground engaging wheels [47 and 48] fixed to the lower end of the elongate support member [20]. The lower end of the elongate support members [20] are pivotly connected to the lower end [9] of the actuator [7] via the inner connecting members [6] forming a geometric arrangement with the outer connecting members [5] wherein vertical movement of the actuator [7] moves the trolley from the collapsed condition to the deployed condition. Abstract: According to the present invention there is provided a process for upgrading an ore or concentrate that contains metal sulphur minerals and gangue material. The process includes the stages of: a) selectively leaching the ore or concentrate using an ammoniacal solution containing ammonium carbonate that forms soluble metal ammine complexes; b) separating the solid and liquid phases formed in stage a) with the liquid phase forming a solution including soluble metal ammine complexes and the solid phase including at least in part the gangue material; c) removing ammonia and carbon dioxide from the liquid phase formed in step b) under conditions so as to selectively precipitate the valuable metal(s); and d) separating the solid and liquid phases formed in stage c) with the solid phase forming a more-concentrated source of valuable metal.

Abstract: A transmissive active channel element is provided in each signal channel of a monolithic multi-channel TxPIC where each channel also includes a modulated source. The active channel element functions both as a power control element for both monitoring and regulating the output channel signal level of each signal channel and as a modulator for channel wavelength tagging or labeling to provide for wavelength locking the modulated sources. The power regulating function is also employed to control the channel signal power outputs of each channel to be uniform across the channel signal array. All of these functions are carried out by a feedback loop utilizing digital signal processing.
