  • Patent number: 6896134
Abstract: A protective carrying case for a computer includes a top portion and a bottom portion for supporting the computer. The top portion is configured to close over the computer and mate with the bottom portion to form a complete enclosure around the computer, with padding to protect the computer. The bottom portion advantageously provides a low peripheral profile, allowing access to peripheral ports disposed on the sides of the computer while the computer is disposed thereon. The case may also include enlarged cushioned corners for providing additional protection to the corners of the computer, and an openable back portion, configured to selectively expose the computer's external connector ports, to allow connection of the computer to external components while the computer remains substantially enclosed within the case.

  • Publication number: 20030135338
Abstract: A real-time energy monitoring system which monitors the energy consumption of a residence or business. The system includes a device located in an interface module for sensing the instantaneous value of the energy being measured by the utility meter. The system also includes a photo-transistor which receives the reflected light from a black stripe on the rotating aluminum disk. The photo-transistor produces a signal corresponding to the instantaneous energy usage. A transmitter is coupled to the phototransistor for encoding and transmitting the digital signal. A receiver receives and decodes the transmitted digital signal. A display unit displays the real-time energy consumption data to a user.

  • Publication number: 20030125110
Abstract: A game includes display strips and a game processor. The game can be played by applying display strips to players. The display strips include a plurality of lights for displaying game information. Players can input information to the game processor, and the game processor can provide output signals to the display strips to enable the strips to display the game information. The game processor can be a hand-held microprocessor capable of executing stored game instructions. The game information can be conveyed in the form of illumination patterns, text, characters, and other images. The display strips can be used in conjunction with another display, which can display detailed or high resolution game information. The visual impact of the game is enhanced because of game information conveyed by the display strips mounted on the players.
