  • Patent number: 7753042
Abstract: The tubular bolt of a paintball gun communicates with a cylinder through bores when in a forward, firing position, allowing compressed gas from the cylinder to expel a paintball. In accordance with the invention a bore whereby the cylinder communicates with a source of compressed gas is occluded by the bolt when the bolt is in the firing position. By this arrangement only gas stored in the cylinder is used to fire a paintball and the source of compressed gas is not in communication with the cylinder except when the trigger is released and the bolt is in its retracted position.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: July 13, 2010
    Assignee: Blackmarket Sportz Limited
    Inventors: Martin Carnall, Paul Garry
  • Patent number: 7724423
Abstract: A method and apparatus for improved efficiency in optical fiber lasers. The system increases the efficiency of cladding pumped optical fiber amplifiers through a seeding technique which includes pumping an erbium/ytterbium doped fiber amplifier with pump energy, directing an optical signal through the erbium/ytterbium doped fiber amplifier, and seeding the optical signal with seed energy. The seed energy may have a higher energy level than the optical signal and a lower energy level than the pump energy, and the seed energy may be initially amplified in the amplifier and subsequently attenuated while amplifying the optical signal in the amplifier.

  • Patent number: 7712465
Abstract: In a paintball gun 10 the valve member 17 which controls communication between the gas canister 13 and the barrel 11 of the gun is balanced by a piston 23. When the chamber 21 is pressurized the piston 23 helps to unseat the valve member 17 when the latter is struck by a hammer 15, thus reducing recoil and permitting use of lighter, less robust materials.

  • Patent number: 7398777
Abstract: A valve for communicating a source 14 of compressed fluid with an opening 13 of an adjacent chamber 12 in a sleeve 11 comprises a circumferentially separated array of depressions 15 in the outer periphery of a bolt 10. Areas 19 and 20 of the bolt periphery between the depressions 15 serve to support the radially inner side of an O-ring seal 16 when the latter is aligned with the depressions.

  • Patent number: 6986343
Abstract: A mechanism for a gas powered gun where a tubular bolt 10 of a paintball gun communicates with a cylinder 16 through bores 17 when in a forward, firing position, allowing compressed gas from the cylinder to expel a paintball. A port 20 whereby the cylinder communicates with a source of compressed gas is occluded by the bolt 10 except when a circumferential recess 23 in the bolt is in register with the port 20. By this arrangement only gas stored in the cylinder 16 is used to fire a paintball and the source of compressed gas is not in communication with the cylinder except when the trigger is released and the bolt 10 is withdrawn.
